What was I thinking...?

Confirmed that my carburetor will remain in the state of California until a required old-school financial transaction can be fully completed by the bank. Groan.

Another option, which IMHO is much better, is to send the carb to Marlin. He does a very nice job rebuilding carbs. Marlin has a very good understanding of how a carb works.

Anyone who has rebuilt carbs in the past can do a good job of rebuilding Aisin carbs. Some people want to make it sound like it's some esoteric carb that only a few can rebuild. Having said that, Jim C. rebuilds where he tests them on an engine for tuning has value.

Todd, I hope your carb re-builder is not waiting for the check to clear.

Uh...You are correct, Sir! You can't be too careful these days.

Well, I screwed up the carb and he's bailing me out. I guess it's my own doing. Wish I'd known though -- I would have sent a bank check.

Good to know about Marlin too -- thanks!

Tulips back in the day were a form of currency.

Charles, it is Algazy. He is a bit eccentric. He is a jackass for holding on to the carb waiting on the check, but that is Mark. That said, he is the best at this in my opinion based on experience and the fact that he turns them fast. Even with the gay ass check delay he is weeks faster than the others I have dealt with.

Grog, I knew it was Mark. Burbank, CA was the give away. If I needed to have a carb rebuilt, I'd send it to Marlin. I would disagree about Mark being the best at rebuilding a carb. Some people don't advertise and self promote their abilities like Mark. Ask Georg (orangefj45) who he uses for all his carb rebuilds.

The bad news is that tracking the package shows it's still in Burbank.

But the closest earthquake yesterday was 170 miles away in Avenal -- hardly a tremor at 2.7 magnitude so all should be well at the shop.

Wanna know what I think?! Well, you're gonna hear it anyways.

This is bull****!

If you can't trust Todd, then whom can you trust.

Waiting for the check to clear ...... That's a friggen insult.

I had mark rebuild a couple of carbs a few years ago and it was never a clear-cut transaction. There was always "I had to spend extra time cleaning it up" or "it had some broken parts" or whatever.

So I stopped using mark for my rebuilds. I had Jim rebuild a couple and they worked great. He always charged me what he said he would. Never pms me back saying it's going to cost more because ....... Or any crap like that.
But his rebuilds did take a while.

Then I started to send all my carbs to marlin and I've never looked back. He's been tinkering with carbs for 30 years so experience isn't an issue. He always charges what he says he'll charge, even if he has to grab a good used part or two out of his personal stash. He also shops them right away and accepts multiple forms of payment.

Fwiw, I sent a carb to marlin on Tuesday. Got a call today that he'll be rolling thru here on Saturday and will drop the rebuilt carb off to me. Now that's service with a smile. And not bull**** a mile deep.

Well.... It's a heck of a nice weekend to be a carburetor in Burbank.... :D

First world problems, we're down to one car this weekend. The 40 is resting and K's Volvo is still in the shop. Should be interesting as we balance an out of town volleyball tournament with the rest of the mix.

But you know, it is what it is.

And then some.
