What I did in Germany over the summer.

So Saturday marked the start of the 182nd Oktoberfest. If you don't know what it is... I'm sorry... If you do know what it is and want more details, check out www.oktoberfest.de.
The first day starts with a parade of dignitaries, landlords, the mayor and of course the barrels of beer from all of the breweries. The limitation is that the brewery needs to be within 25km of the city center. So not all of your favorite brands are represented. There is a parade on the second day for all of the surrounding towns to display their traditional dress or Trachten. These photos are from both parades.

I grew up around tractors and while there are some big eight wheel, 4wd, center articulating tractors out there, this is the single largest conventional tractor I have ever seen. The ass end was all tire and three point hitch.

Now for the blatant BMW Group post.

The i8 starts off the parade.

The 5 series makes a damn fine police car. I think this is the chief of police. There are a crap ton of BMW police cars but most are in the 3 series range.

The Red Cross actually operates ambulance services and a hospital. This is one of their BRIGHT Orange motorcycles.

Minis are also used in the public service fleet.
The fire department uses several of these.

I'm in Wieden about 3 hrs north of Munich. I think we might hit Oktoberfest this weekend!

Crap Daniel I just saw this. Had some friends in town and stayed away from the computer. Also went to the Wiesen this weekend. Send me a pm if you didn't make it this past weekend and end up coming this one.

We got a babysitter and headed out to Oktoberfest last night. First of all it is a LOT of drinking if you so choose. And a Lot of people choose to do so. It is also a carnival with games, rides, food, etc.
Some of the older attractions include a really old version of an open top carousel, the Teufelsrad (Devils Wheel) and an old fashion motorcycle show where the riders perform stunts in a giant wooden sphere with the top cut off. Patrons sit in a ring of bleachers looking down into the "bowl".
They use "modern" bikes in the show but the door attraction includes this pair of Indians.

Warning - Not automotive.
More like an overdose of WTF!!??
But I had to share this. Way too creepy for me to not share.

Our rent over here includes the equivalent of home owners association dues. It covers the playground equipment upkeep (which they actually do), building maintenance and grounds keeping.
We recently discovered that some "art work" projects would be installed around the apartments. New pavers were put in with some odd designs and some holes were dug for sculptures.
Well we got our sculpture the other day. Behold creepy baby. All 4.5 feet of it.
I'm really not sure what to make of it except I can see it dressed as baby new year, a king cake baby for Mardi Gras, and a ghost at Halloween. I'm also pretty sure it is going to loose a snowball fight this winter.

Back to the cars. It is the weekend so we are out and about and I had a chance to snap a few pics.
First up... Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

Next. For all you hippies out there. A rough little VW bus. Not sure if it ran but it was fixable. I'd prefer to be a hippie in a Syncro. Keeping my eyes peeled for those.

Last an Aston Martin DB9 jumped out in front of me at a red light.

I have not gone to snap pictures in the high rent district where the money rolls in the form of Lamborghinis and Ferraris. It is fall now and most of them I suspect are put away for the winter. Their owners take to riding on Harley's for the weekend. HDs are a huge status symbol here and the owners like to be seen on them. Funny thing is that exhaust and noise restrictions mean no straight pipes so you don't always hear them coming.

"Yes, Kajun we see all the great cars, but this is a Landcruiser forum. For the love of all things, where are the Landcruisers?"
I found one! 30 feet from where I parked in the back lot this morning. I snapped a quick pic and had to rush off to the airport to pick up some folks. Sun was on the wrong side.
100 series with a slight lift and 255/85s. Nice.

I'm going to have to put an UC "Nice Truck" card on this one and make contact with the owner. Parts of it say 100 series, but those 6 lug wheels are throwing me. I just looked at it again on the big computer. Maybe adapters to get the wheels (s)he wanted. Hmmm...

Maybe a 105 Series? In spite of the SFA, I think they had 5 lugs as well, though... I'm not sure, I've never seen one.

I'll stick my head under it and see if it has a SFA.

Late 90s Prado. IFS front setup, looks similar to the 120 platform.

Dean, Nope. Someone else went out of their way to get that video. No need to duplicate the effort. I will stick to cars.
With that. Behold; a VX in the parking garage today. Swiss plates and some somewhat out of place stickers.
