Reev, please explain the trailer hitch on the inside of the Yeti Cooler basket swing out. What would get mounted there, a stove mount?

I've been making the baskets removable so guys don't have to haul everything around all the time and don't have to remove a full arm as well. Then if they want another attachment.. say a BBQ, flat platform, vertical bike rack or whatever they dream up, they can attach it.

Pulled a "new" motor from the junk yard. It's a 1998 Dodge 5.9L V8 with Multi Point Injection to replace my SBC 350. I know this isn't a common swap but as a Dodge mechanic for 6 years, it just makes sense to put a motor in I know the in's and out's of. Got NP435 to hook to it and then either Dana 18 or 20 depending on driveline angle to follow that. Has anyone seen a fuel injected mopar in a 40 series?

Got the F2 short block and head back a couple of weeks ago, had some machine shop issues. Just for the record, the bolt holes in the chevy I6 cam thrust plate are smaller then the Toyota. Got the head on, now I'm running in to coil bind on the valve springs. Looks to have maybe .050 total, not including taking out the lash. I'll post some pics later and show yall, more then likely I'll cure it with different retainers.

Cool. I look forward to seeing the progress. As a dodge mechacic, do you think its possible to put the 5.9 cummins in the fj40?

Grandparents came and picked up the baby for the afternoon, so while my wife took a nap, I finally got a couple hours out in the garage to get some things done.
Replaced the hydraulic ram on my HF engine hoist with a new one (old one crapped out after a year & maybe 4 uses), finally finished welding the patches into the drivers rocker panel and started grinding, then sprayed PB Blaster on as many of the bolts/nuts I could in the engine compartment and suspension components in prep for removal. Also, got all the windshield hinge screws loose with no breakages after several rounds of PB Blaster, then heating with a torch and finally the impact.
Even though it wasn't much, it felt great to get to work on it again and make a little progress!

I do think it's potentially possible. The 5.9L Cummins is a very heavy engine. The long block weighs 1100 lbs with out fluids, exhaust manifold, turbo, etc. The front suspension would need some major tuning, frame would need stiffening, and the entire running gear would need to be beefed up as well. Also the engine itself is massive. 40" long, and 38" tall. It would be tight and probably need a custom oil pan and maybe some firewall modification. It would be a simple swap electrically though if you went with a 12 valve or P-pumped 24 valve engine.

Replaced the extremely deteriorated battery tray with the longer (12") type (still available from Toyota), and put in a new bigger battery. Then, drained radiator to replace all the hoses and mid-pipe (also all Toyota) and replaced the two (leaking) seals on the drain plug. Not a big deal, just working my way down the list.

I had one of those 5.9s... It got the same fuel economy as my 42 year old 350. I hope it does better in your 40. Personally I wasn't that impressed.

This is a little tite I've checked and rechecked and the best I can get is .037-.041 on #2 ex. between the coils. and 2 more below .060 where most folks say is safe. That's with the lash set .016. I know that's not the correct way to measure it, but with out taking it a part it still lets me know this is a problem. So if you have any valves replaced check them.
