Bought this accessory for my 40 to encourage the family to get out more and enjoy it. Do not understand the PO‘s use of camo on the side and blaze orange inside but what ever. I think I will go full OD in and out or desert tan.

Made some paddles to go along with it.

That Blaze is the original color...used to have one of those. Why didn't you make the paddles camo to go with the blaze tips?? Nice woodwork!!

The hose is just a elbow about 2 inches long. The rest is steel tubing in the windshield frame. I tripped out. I havent figured out where the clear plastic hose connects to the windshield.
That reminds me, I gotta fix the hose that leads to mine...

2x on the woodwork and the camo tips, was thinking the same thing.
Like the way your garage/house is located.

Drove it 770 miles to Denver in one day.

Masochist. :)

Most I've managed in a 40 was 500 miles in one stretch.

Yeah I was pretty stiff and beat by the time I got here. Happy enough to park it for a day, but tomorrow I'm going to run the Spring Creek Trail with some local FJC guys and then I'm going to drive it to Ouray on Tuesday.

Just got done changing rear diff fluid, replaced OG plugs with 10mm allen head plugs. Diff fluid smelled like pine . . .

Added some ammo boxes for storage.

This is actually more of a 4 week update, but I got busy and didn't post up.

--Rubbed out the paint on the whole cruiser with rubbing compound. Red compound on white paint is tons of fun...

--Finally got done reworking the wiring harness and all the lights work:clap:. To get to this point I re-made the rear harness with weatherproof connections and lots of di-eletric grease, cleaned all the grounds (di-electric grease again...see a trend?) cleaned the headlamp and hazard switch contacts, replaced the park light switch, both tail lights, the back-up light, both rear side markers, both front side markers, and new turn signals (all new Toyota OEM parts).

--Found 3 wires inside the dash that were rubbed through so fixed those and reinforced the section of the loom that could rub against the firewall and now my heater blower works:bounce:

--Replaced the rear Toyota and 4Wheel Drive emblems along with the Toyota Land Cruiser emblems up front.

--Rebuilt the emergency brake from scratch. The PO(s) had removed all the guts (probably bad output shaft seal). So I had to source all the parts, except one that I had to make (little washer thing that goes on the post at the 12 o'clock). Speedi-Sleeved the drum (probably didn't need it but what the heck. Wire wheeled and repainted gloss black before rebuilding.

--Wire wheeled the brake drums and painted gloss black.

--New OEM mirrors and arms. Took the arms to be blasted and powdercoated.

--Found an extra OEM steelie on CL for $25 so now all 5 are getting blasted and powdercoated gloss black. 5 new BFG AT's in 33x10.50 will be going back on along with 5 new OEM hubcaps

***Next up on the list is a knuckle job with with new wheel bearings while I'm in there. Still trying to figure out if both driveshafts need new U-Joints***

DPV7070 that's such good motivation for me.....esp since i have to tackle the knuckle rebuild soon myself.

where are you sourcing parts and, to my knowledge, we dont have a 40 knuckle rebuild thread.....wanna make my life easier when I go to do my rebuild by doing a thread??!!!!

thanks for your service.....love you aviators....you give me a ride to the drop zone!

I source most of my parts from the local Toyota dealer (guy I know gives me sweet discount). I'm trying to use all OEM stuff as much as I can.

Have you not checked out Coolerman's website? He's got write-ups on just about everything. He's also scanned the FSM. Check it out:

Knuckle Rebuild

Hope this helps...
