added aux alternator and battery, found right belts in two tries. fired her up for the first time in a month. AC almost done, waiting on steering column parts and paint to dry to install last seat. May be back on road next week. Scored an old school 6014 today gonna pick her up this week and see what she will need. Be a good add for the front.

Great looking truck. When you need it, do you get any of the work done in Athens?
Thanks!

I really should update my location, I’m in Atlanta now. Not much work was done on the truck while I lived in Athens, and it would have been self preformed.

Closest cruiser shop to you is Merriam Automotive.

All I wanted to do was paint the bumperettes. As it goes, one thing led to another. Stripped everything off of the rear and repaired or repainted. The wiring to the lights was pretty hacked up, so I contacted Coolerman and he’s sending me some new pigtails.

Hopefully by next week I’ll have it all back together.

I probably could have just bought new everything but where’s the fun in that?!

I just don’t understand why people do this crap. This is all old, like 20+ yrs old but I have never worked on a Cruiser with such messed up wiring. It even puts every Latin Cruiser I ever seen to shame.

Cheers

Yes you are correct. I replaced the smog pump with an auxillary alt and added another battery. I'm still in the process of wiring but basically it's a 105A (part number later) alt this will take some accessory load off truck system, charge my tubby trailer batteries while driving and give me a redundant system if truck alt goes out. Can also switch on and switch off truck alt off if I needed extra juice for winching. Pretty simple, convert to 1 wire alt, use smog bolt, make a sleeve and spacer clearance an old adjusting bracket and change pulley to 15mm vbelt. I think I found this in mud. Didn't come up with it on my own.

I used a 7977 se which is a GM delco replacement alt where the smog pump was with a small pulley and it bolts up with only a small spacer I made out of a small piece of pipe. The brackets match up perfectly but the are not the depth (front of truck to back) of the toyota bracket is too long so you need a simple spacer. Works great. I had it made into a one wire system so you dont need to wire it into the harness. Just one wire straight to a second battery that I also installed. Copied and pasted from another thread.

Are you trying to give us all a brain aneurism? Or spike our high blood pressure!?!?! 😩😩😩

I got a lot of it worked out but man this one is giving me headaches and nightmares. 😬

Still can’t get turn signals to work or the heater blower, hazards only work on the front. Haven’t even jumped into illumination and fuel sender yet. There are dead wires, splices and open grounds everywhere.

Pushing through though, got headlights, brake lights aux lights all working. Few other things confirmed working if I hot wire them.

It is a v8 swap, 5.7L votrec, from 20yrs ago. Whomever did it abandon the original harness and swapped all wiring in from the Chevy, even the fuse block and key! See a page or two back of the mess I yanked out. Put it back on stock ignition, new Howell harness for the v8 and Dakota Digital going in plus aux Blue Sea fuse block. That’s all easy it’s this original mess that is beyond hacked I am not stoked on. Really needs the original harness pulled, cleaned up and repaired then reinstalled. That’s not on the plate though.

I’ll get it, one way or another. ✊

Cheers
