Don't know what the trick was? Can you explain what you used the bread for?

Thanks

To push the pilot bearing out? (my best guess)

Pilot Bearing was stuck, or at least very difficult to get out.

Yep, read about it here on mud. Packed the cavity with as much white bread, no crust, then took an old spring pin whose threads had been taped up with black electrical tape and pushed it in the pilot bearing opening. Hit the pin with rubber mallet several times, added more bread, and hit some more.

The bread fills the cavity and when there is no more room pushes the pilot bearing out!

This was my first time doing this and was a little skeptical, but it worked great.:)

Fabbed up a rear swing away carrier

Got some time in the shop to fab up a rear swing away carrier. Thanks to Cirbo for the cool design.

I didn't have time to mount yet but I got the main components tacked together ready for fitting.

Fixed a loose sun visor on the passenger side that kept flopping down.

New Tuffy console, new ambulance door inner handle and lock. I can finally lock the rear now.

Also put in a new thermostat. It was a major pain in the rear trying to get it sealed up.

Drove it to work for the first time this year!

Tonight I am adding all the little parts I picked up at Cruiser Corps this week:

Drivers turn signal
New roof hardware
Rearview Mirror
internal latching/handle for liftgate

Very excited to soon be able to go over a bump without being deafened!

Installed new (to me) black leather seats from an audi.

WOW those look good....which Audi ?? and did you fab the brackets ??

Installed "Jeep" horns on my 40. No....not factory horns sold for Jeeps. Heaven forbid!! These horns are loud.... and I will tooooooot them when I pass a Jeep.

90 TT I was told, got them for 1 "40 unit" ($100) ea. I fabbed the brackets with flat steel and some angle (about $50 plus wire and gas for the welder). The Audi has one side of the floor lower so the seat rails set uneven, that took a little doing to get them to sit way down and level. They're still higher than the old stock seats but they were shot so who knows what is right.
