That’s tempered glass with tint. Laminated glass is much tougher.
Yeah, I don’t know one way or the other. Bloc mentioned he thought LX glass was laminated and I was throwing my experience out there with tinted stock glass. Like, if it was indeed laminated, it didn’t perform worth a damn haha

You can tell on the Lexus windows that they are double paned on the front. You can feel the 2 panes on the top edge. I have not checked to see if the back windows are double.

Even if the fronts are, it wouldn't stop someone in a smash & grab. It would probably help in a car jacking scenario though.

Very true. The sound reduction is what I like about them. Wish they all were sound reducing. I need to pull some door panels off and start adding some sound recustion mats. Went a little crazy on my 4Runner a few years ago, Loved how that turned out. Toyota-4Runner.org - https://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/207663-tiggers-build-mis-adventures.html#post2150571

Made it to a minor milestone

I just realized the previous owner installed BeatSonic Apple Car Play in my LC (yes, it took me a year and 15k miles to realize it), lol.😂

It works like factory as I simply hold the NAV button for a second or so and voila—Google maps, music, etc.

My daughter pointed it out to me as I genuinely don’t use the tech much except for music, but it works perfectly in the event that others are considering the upgrade.

NOTE: The ACC build sheet from the prior owner showed they’d used NaviPlus and it glitched, thus replaced it and went with BeatSonic.

Didn’t have the tensioner or idler on the shelf - just the belt and no way I was waiting to change it since it was chirping cold mornings. I did the tensioner on my Tundra a couple years ago and the back of my hand is still recovering.

Just a heads up it'll likely come up again. It's almost never the belt, but rather the tensioner that causes the belt to slip and chirp.

agreed.

@AZBoatHauler if you attack it from the bottom it’s much easier. Remove the center rib for the skid plates and you can swing a breaker bar around to release tension, and even get access to the hold-back pin slot, if you have an old drill bit or something appropriately sized that’s strong enough.

Had a little belt squeal at 103k miles. Got the belt changed, coolant drained and filled, and peeked at a spark plug. Need to do power steering fluid and trans next.
Any chance you can do a quick write-up on this process? I've never refilled coolant into and empty system. As I understand, there is a method to refilling, sometimes involving running the heat to get the coolant well circulated into the system. Also, I'm not familiar with how to "burp" the system.

Get one of the spill-less funnels that have the toyota adapters included as they are clutch to have on hand. it's in the video posted above. AFAIK, there's no gas bleeding bolt on our 5.7's you can use that's near the thermostat like the mopar engine in the video. If there is one, please let me know.

Yes, run the heat and get the engine at operating temp to make sure the thermostat is open and you can circulate the coolant to the rear heater. TBH, I may be misremembering and conflating my 200 with our van for the rear heater bit.
