Finally settled on a dashboard switch layout.

Just got my first cruiser, 200 series from 2013. It’s on street shoes, Yokohama H/T. but a buddy of mine has a set of 5 solid off-road brand tires (forgot what they were) with wheels. But the size is 265/60/r18. Is it worth getting, even at the smaller size width?

I wish someone would make a hinged/multi angle adjustable mount to go in that silly wedge compartment that adapts the SP-9100 plate. Tilt it up for direct visibility while seated to use and then fold it back flat and out of the way when not needed. This would eliminate the need for an entirely new panel like SDHQ offers, but I am glad that they offer it regardless.

You’re in the wrong rabbit hole for that question. Here’s the rabbit hole you’re looking for... This post links to the database itself. Pro tip: Bookmark it.

Got an email from 4 wheel parts last night with their Christmas sale. Big sale on winches, got something like 30% off, so decided to buy a winch now vs waiting until Spring...

My frist question was going to be what wheels, what tires. Vital to answering your question. Then I saw 265/60r18, which is smaller than stock. Would not do unless the wheels are super great and you want to discard the tires and buy new ones.

I’m a skinny fan and wouldn’t run a 60, more sidewall does two things, it provides free ‘lift’ and it allows for better height when aired down. A 60 doesn’t capture these benefits. I did run an 80 aspect skinny and enjoyed that.

Rotated tires

New PowerStop Z36 extreme brake pads all around.

Attempted to paint my calipers with a hint of bronze to pay tribute to the Heritage Edition but came out a bit lighter than I hoped but a good match for the black on black IMHO. Some might find it cheesy but always wanted to try painting them. Excited to see if these new carbon ceramic pads create less dust while also improving my stopping while commuting

Thanks for sharing 2hundy. I’ve seen this, very useful. Just looking for anyone’s insight on a smaller vs larger tire.
I am running that size in a snow tire. I only went that small as I got a good deal on a used set of Blizzaks.
My speedo if off quite a bit. When it shows me doing 80 I am actually only going 73.
It's definitely peppier off the line but will be happy to go back to my 275/65/18s once the snow is over. (or maybe 275/70/18s if I get new tires)

Painted my recovery points and frame.

I’ve gone from a slee bracket above the oem switch plate, to hacking up my switch plate to hold a tiled SP, now to the SDHQ which is the cleanest. I just didn’t want to go the sun glass mount direction.

The last option for 2016+ interior is to pop the the small wood trim bezel to the side of the ignition switch on the right side of the steering wheel and insert it there. The SP-9100 mounting tabs align perfectly with the tabs for that trim piece. It ever so slightly covers the top of the four switches below it but it’s a nice, clean option that’s easily reversible without any modifications to the interior and no extra parts needed.

I tried a number of positions. Mocking up by mounting SP pad with double sided tape. Then drove around for a few days. We all have personal preferences and differing sight lines with height, seat and wheel positions. No one right or wrong solution.

I spent about 1 hour of research and 4 hours of work getting all the stuck fasteners of the protective rings on my 6 Rock Warrior wheels. The last two T30s left was stripped. I welded on a thick flat washer then a nut. They spun right off. The recipe for getting the T30s off was to heat each T30 for 1 min of MAP gas then a wiha T30 bit. I broke 6 standard T30s before going to wiha.

I also pressure washed them in prep for drop off tomorrow at the paint shop. I am going for a bronz center and black rings....maybe. Still thinking about it!

I am goung to have 2 spairs for the longer trips!
