Changed out front wheel bearings because it started wandering on the highway. The job took me about five hours and I had my son helping me. Seems to have fixed it. The driver-side bearing was loose.
 
Topped off fluids and greased the driveshaft today. I thought there were a total of six zerks on it, but I only saw three, one on each U joint, and one of the shaft. I didn't have it off the ground, so I couldn't rotate the shaft, but I couldn't feel anything on the opposite sides. Does my memory just suck? Did it change on the later years?
 
When it comes down to wiring just picture the scarecrow's reaction to fire that's me. But I'd face a whole box full of them to have an onboard compressor.

I added some pictures to show my progress. I like my mounting concept and orientation of things using the Torfab mount. I had to go tight on the compressor fittings to get things oriented how I needed. Overall I'm proud of how it looks. The last two things I need to do is bolt the wires to the battery and wire up the switch. I'm sure I'm going to use earth magnets to hold that switch mount to the fender wall and call it a day. No making holes or making a mess. I just need to find me a diagram that shows the right places to plug those females into the rocker switch. Looks like I will need to tear this little harness apart.

Just make sure that you fuse the +12v power wire close to the battery… 40a fuse if I recall for the single ARB compressor.

Car fires are no joke.

There is a giant fuse along the path of the harness from factory. you can see it in my first pic running up along the firewall.

I strongly recommend that you relocate the fuse ( overcurrent protection device) to within 18” ( no more) of the battery. Closer is better. Protects more of the wiring harness. Your 12v battery is capable of instantly discharging 300a or more in a fault condition.

In the event of an equipment overload, or fault in the wiring, the intent of the fuse is that it will open under overload to protect the wiring and the equipment. If the fuse is installed 6 feet away from the power source (the battery), all 6 feet of that unprotected wiring will immediately overheat and can become incandescent, or burn up all together… thus, burning all of the wiring harness that is unprotected by the fuse, AND ANYTHING the harness is touching. You DO NOT want the wiring to become the fusible link.

PLEASE… relocate the fuse to a location within 18” or less from the battery. You can cut out the fuse and splice the wiring with properly sized crimp style butt splices. Use the properly sized marine grade type butt splices with heat shrink glue to protect from moisture ingress and tape up or use heat shrink tubing over the splices.

Car fires are no joke.

I offer this as sincere advice… I am an IBEW local 11 inside wireman. Just looking out for you man.
