Beautiful pics as ever!
How are the mud tires on the highway? In rain? Also, I know you have had the rear dual swing bar for a while but does it get annoying to swing out both arms to open the hatch?

Thanks! The mud tires are fine so far. No issues on highway or in rain. Definitely loud but it's already loud because of the roof rack so I don't even think about it.

The swing outs are a little annoying but just with the trailer. Space is pretty tight. I had one cooler back there but only opened the back twice a day during the drive out so it wasn't too bad. I always get the dog in and out from the driver passenger door.

The swing outs are necessary for me, too...I would have been hung up by the spare tire way too many times wheeling and I am on the roof all the time so that ladder gets used a lot.

Changed my own oil for the first time on my rig and topped off fluids including AHC. First time going with full synthetic.
Also replaced my LED rear bumper lights with new ones as they only last about a year along with one license plate light.

Nothing nearly as fun as the above BUT;

  • Flushed and refilled the AHC system
    • Old fluid was jet black, so I'm less than thrilled with the previous owner
    • Went from about 3 to 11 gradations in my system as a reward, and it rides like a dream (no more bouncy)
  • Replaced my busted OEM hood shocks with a new set; oh hello safety
  • Prepping for a full transmission fluid change when 12L arrive on Monday :)
    • Nothing crazy like dropping the pan, just drain and replace, drain and replace
  • Had to declare defeat on the right rear 02 sensor due to it being frozen; local shop is going to torch it Wed. if needed to get it off

I removed the seats, and have started cleaning the cabin.

And the seats are receiving a sorely needed refreshing of the colour.

I think I have spent five hours spraying today. One hour for primer, three hours for colour, and one hour for topcoat...

Hopefully the result will be "good enough", as I am really doing stuff that I have never done before...

And yes, those are paper-plates...

Nice. What type of paint products are you using?

It is leather dye from Colourlock, but it is from the professional range, and not "Leather fresh"

The products I used are:

Primer
Leather colour
Topcoat with 2% crosslinker

Also, a sanding pad, gld solvent-cleaner, a precision spray-pistol, a 1% vinegar/water solution,and a pressure regulater/water remover.

After 24 hours I will coat the seats with Leather Shield, and after one week I will rub them with Leather Protector.

Today I replaced my random assortment of old and/or PO replacement coils with a fresh new set. If anyone wants a trail spare, I think I'll only keep two. I never had a misfire code, and they all have brand new Denso boots/grommets/springs.

I also replaced my coolant temp sensor connectors due to broken housings, and one of my coil connectors. I had pretty good luck with a cheap pair of crimpers that I just bought for the sealed Sumitomo connectors. They aren't sexy, but they have the right sizes for the wire crimp and the seal crimp, and they were twenty bucks with Prime shipping.

I'm going to do the rest of my coil connectors and my injector connectors, but I'm not crazy about the pins that came with the connectors so I think I'll order some plated ones for corrosion resistance.

Oh yeah, and I installed my @Ramathorn15 🦉 Owl Expedition fire extinguisher mount on my passenger seat. I'll put my driver's side one on tomorrow and get it set up for cargo.

Looks like a thorough job!
Can you take a closeup pic of the center console back side (facing rear seats)? It looks different than most others.

Thanks!

I try to make it as good as I can, although I had to do the spraying in a dusty garagage. Fortunately, it was not windy outside, (Nord-Jæren is a windy place)

I disconnected all connectors under the seats, cleaned them with deoxidizer, and coated them with dielectric grease.

Some of the connectors were pretty green from oxidation, and some of them were misaligned, which may explain why some of the functions only worked once in a while, probably when moisure allowed the current to bridge the gap...

I can see what I can do!

Took the fam to the beach, as we were packing up another silver 100 pulled up just down the beach from us. Gave em a beep and a wave on the way out.

I had to cancel two trips now already due to Covid19 restrictions in South Africa. So to keep me "happy" I added a new part to my travel setup in the LC. When I travel alone into the bush I sleep inside the Cruiser. I'm a short guy so not a problem for me and no having to climb into a RTT (going to places where sleeping on the ground would not be a safe option).

The box get strapped onto the top of my drawer system. I moved my coffee station from the drawers (freeing up a lot of space) to the side of the new box that faces to the tailgate. From the side (where my mattress would be) I have a compartment at the top for my clothes (would be able to pack for 7 days in there) and I now have easy access even if I have more stuff stacked on top of the box. At the bottom is a place to store drinks (can fit 3 and a hald cases of beer in there).

When I'm not on a trip, I can remove it and then again have a flat surface.

Flexed out my 100 to check wheel/tire clearance. All is good so far, tucks nicely.

Is that the parking lot behind Thirsty Isle? I recognize the roof and the Boeing building in the background lmao!

I'm in Long Beach too, I actually work for Epson, right down the street from there. My colleagues and I frequent ST Noodle Bar, LV SEafood, and Vino E Cucina all the time (er used to) for lunch.
