Finished a week or so ago but decided to layer up the 2001 LX with sound deadener. I was replacing all the speakers, head unit and amp and figured why not. Ha, famous last words. I used the Kilmat 80mil off amazon and then layered on top of it the Kilmat 170mil foam. Oh and I also chose to do it during a Georgia heat wave. I meant to take more pictures but it was in the upper 90’s and the air was so humid it felt like you could cut it with a knife. Next time...

Why put sound deadener in an LX? No clue, I think I just love punishing myself, it did not need it by any means at all. The end result is pretty sweet though. I took a very non-scientific and probably inaccurate decible reading on my iPhone doing 65 on the highway, 71 decible average over 30 seconds. After I finished I took another reading on the same stretch of Highway, same speed and saw a drop to 67 decibles. More than anything the new stereo system sounds amazing.

Went with a Sony XAV5000 head unit. Pioneer 5 channel amp. 6.5 Morel components up from and 6.5 Morel Coax in the rear doors. Still figuring out the subwoofer, hooked up an old single 12 inch sub from my youth but the 5 channel amp just doesn’t have the power to run it properly. Honestly though it doesn’t even need it.

Idk how you guys get those MPGs. I'm consistently at 12.5 to 12.8 with 33.2" ko2 load e tires on stock 18s. That's with an 04 5spd. I hit 13s to 14s max when we take our trips up north but those are like 500 miles interstate..

Have you corrected your speedometer? I noticed my MPG jumped from an average of 12-13 to 14-16 (via scan gauge) after fixing the speedo. On my old LX, stock tire size, I'd regularly see 340-360 mile tanks on long highway road trips.

Those racks are pretty sweet. I'm going to check them out.

What's all over the rear diff? Did the u-joint from the DS explode?

Again!?! Didn't you just sell a rig recently then build your current one?

Yep i did, now i'm looking to get into a pearl white 06-07 LX470 with higher mileage. The black shows every swirls and scratches incurred on the trail and i got a good deal on it so i won't lose any money.

Good luck on your new build!

Definitely agree about the black. Mine cleans up well, but shows lots of imperfections up close. It wasn't my first color choice, but it has next to no rust, nearly new 285/75 KO2's and the price was very right.

Yeah no more black cars for me, i should've learned my lesson with my IS350, swirls galore. I'm also an adventure photographer and white shows up way better on camera than black, it hides all the beautiful lines of this SUV. I'm ready to get into a VVTI and deal with the air injection pump BS. :D

Quick trip out to Monache Meadows!

IMG_4599.JPG

First official trip in the truck (hey, I just got it three weeks ago)! Took the Monache Meadows Jeep Trail from the Blackrock Visitor Center into the meadows for the day. Light wheeling and no issues with the stock LX plus 275/75R18s. AHC on H and shifter in 4Lo. Surprised to see a dozen+ other vehicles back in Monache Meadows but it kinda makes it a little better if you're looking for an easy solo trip like I was.

Put it on a flat bed and sent it to the shop, horrible death rattle from engine bay this morning. Fingers crossed.

Improved her looks at the Cliffs Insane Terrain park. No casualties this time except I managed to get a branch stuck up the front bumper and twisted it. While I was able to kick and punch the plastic bumper back into its place, the turn signal cable was snapped off (this is the third time it has happened!).
I really need to find a way to covert the corner lights to turn signals (like the LCs do)
