@Commander AJ Unlikely that it was me on the 405 unless it was a weekend heading to/from a meetup or something. I WFH, so zero commute. The GXBC stickers on the rig are generally a dead giveaway as to whether it's me (though they're getting swapped out soon for a new look).

Bought this gx couple weeks ago, this is my 3rd V8..clean interior, though, theres a leake on the radiator and the cv boots, i already order them and its going to be replaced next week.. i also bought some carbon fiber goodies.. ive been using my v8 4runner for camping and long trip.. the 4runner is such a beast, i hope i get the same treatment from this gx..

Test fit the Lil B’s bumper, and, no surprise here, it fits like a glove.
Budgeted an afternoon for the fit, and it only took my dad and I about an hour. Nice for a plan to come in under time for once!

Off to get powder coated this week. New HD icon front springs ordered. Get them swapped onto the coilovers, and this should be all done in about 2 weeks.

Can’t say enough good things about Lil B’s. Bumper was here 2ish weeks after the order was placed, install instructions are perfect, and the bumper itself is clearly well-made.

What is the weight on that bumper?

I can snag the exact # from the shipping papers, but I think between 110 and 120. It was pretty easy to carry with just my dad and I, and a hassle when I got it into the back of the GX myself. Couldn’t be more than 120, or I couldn’t have moved it, lol

Looking forward to seeing completed pics after you get it powdercoated. My bumper paint keeps flaking off, so I'll be in the market for one sooner than later.

I’ll snap a bunch from different angles when it’s all done. You’ll have to ignore the Amazon special lights and light bar - starting with the cheapo ones until I figure out what the trails here in GA actually require.

This is what the Lil B’s has on their site of the finished install. I really dig the look, but I know everyone isn’t a fan of the tube bumpers.

Couldn’t be happier with mine! Have an Openroad 4wd winch going in it soon too (when I install that I’ll adjust the bumper as it needs to shift to the drivers side a smidge)

1) great looking rig, man! Some aggressive tires. Love it.

2) are you gonna use the weld-on plates that came with the bumper for “heavy winching”?

I am waffling on those because I haven’t seen any installs that did.

I can’t take much credit because I bought it with this setup, however I love the look. ATs definitely have their place but aesthetically you can’t beat MTs lol. These actually aren’t crazy loud either.

I had actually reached out to them because I had been planning on going with a Badlands Apex 12k after checking out the one on my buddies Gladiator. They let me know that anything over 10k I’d need the other mounts. I asked how much they were and they said just cover shipping and then mailed me them without charging me anything. Their customer service is definitely top notch, but then I saw a ton of videos on these Openroad winches and they’re such a bargain I just sprung for the 10k (got it for 250 shipped with three remotes and synthetic rope with the promise of leaving a review after it’s installed) and we’ll see where we go from there.
I do need to look around to see what people are doing as far as remote mounting the winch box as it won’t fit on top of the winch due to the grille being mounted to the hood.

Oh and on topic:

Installed new hub assemblies due to worn out bearings. The job was definitely easy.
Notched and hammered the pinch welds in the fenders flat and installed my OPOR lower link guards. Still need to get them welded up but figure they still give more support than factory.
And replaced a burnt out headlight bulb.
Need to replace the amber running light in my passenger side next.
Also realized my auto setting on my headlamps always thought it was night time because of my dash cover lol. Will notch that tomorrow.

Well it has taken some time but I have finally gotten my Tire Carrier Swing Arm done.
BIG BIG BIG shout out to my fellow 470 GX buddy in Richmond Chris for all of his help.. Like doing the work and welding. I was just the helper and designer.

Picked the hottest weekend to do the work and sweated ourselves almost crazy.

3/16 2x3 Steel 10’ worth.
3.6 2x2 Steel 2’ worth
Hinge, latch, and tire carrier plate from 4x Innovations
License plate holder w/ LED light from Amazon
Body trim from Amazon
Wheel studs from Lexus Dealer
Black Paint from Autozone

I took Chris’s basic design he made for himself and slightly tweaked it into a version 2.0. Instead of just a straight bar we did some angels to help keep the arm from being too far out from the body. To ensure that the arm didn’t lose too much of its strength we opted to do “bird cuts” on the backside and bend the metal so that the outside face was intact, then we welded it in place.

Chris's original design

The plan was to run all the wiring inside of the arm to make it super clean but due to a slight mistake a shim was welded in that closed off the interior. We were racing against the clock at that point and could not remedy it at that time, perhaps in the future we will fix it. For now the wiring is on the back of the arm held in place with some zip ties.

Also i made a measuring mistake and cut the tire tree a bit short and the wheel does not sit flush to the plate but a spacer should fix that issue.

I have to say that the 4x Innovation parts are BEEFY!! and there wasn’t anything wrong with them at all.

Took roughly 2 days of steady work and a lot of sweating but I am SUPER happy with the results!

Installed the EBC S15 rotors/pad kit front and rear and flushed all of the old brake fluid. Rotors are the USRs, pads are orange extra duty.

I bought a rough running GX470, last weekend.

I subsequently picked up Denso Coils and plugs from the good folks at rock auto swapped them out after a cold compression test.

I now have a wonderful running GX470. In celebration, it got a full bath, even the door jams, made it to the local pull-a-part, picked up some interior trim pieces.

Now to take apart the center console storage, re foam the sub, and track down the radiator leak.

These things are great!

Installed some matching 2.0 Toytec shocks in the rear. Noticed the bumpstops are past their expiration date so ordered some Timberin replacements. Got the C4-Lo rear bash bar installed today as well but not ready to show that just yet.
