Did the brakes on the Subaru this morning and took the LC to get smogged, it failed :(

I have always liked the look of the 5 spoke limited wheels but didn't care for the finish.
Today I fixed that, and now I am happy.

Rebuilt/repaired/cleaned the combination switch on my '80 Hilux 4x4. Combined parts from 2 switches to make one good one. Swapped the turn signal cancel cam, everything works now. It's nice not to hear the headlight switch relay cycling from a bad loose switch.

Just returned from Unit 30A rifle mule deer hunt in Cochise Co's San Bernardino Valley. A few gnarly old ranch trails; added more pin striping. More hunters than we'd ever seen out there; many more than there were bucks. Favorite night was bivying out alone under stars and waking, fixing my coffee in the field. Was grateful to harvest a young 2x3. We found some amazing petroglyphs (known to academic community). Careful observers will note my high-tech hatch prop....

Put a new starter in the 80 with my son. At the ripe age of 6, he learned it's ok to hate everything about doing mundane repairs of a car. Pissing and moaning is ok as long as the work gets done. I offered him a beer after our hard hour of work was done. My wife told me it was inappropriate.

Since I sold my Tundra, I've been having a little too much fun turning the 80 into a better rig for daily driving. So I am currently in the process of refreshing my doors. Removed door panels, lacquered the cards as they were absorbing some moisture, removed the moisture barriers, cleaned the inner doors out pretty well, and ripped all of the old speakers and subwoofer out. Going to start adding some sound deadening mats to the doors and get a start on running 14g OFC speaker wire throughout the 80 while I wait for all new speakers, subwoofer, amplifier etc. to come in and get that installed. By then, all of my new moisture barriers, window moldings, and weatherstrippings will be delivered so I can get those installed and get everything put back together.

I installed all new 555 Tie Rod Ends and Marlink HD Steering upgrade last week, so I'll be going to Firestone for an alignment tomorrow with doors gutted and interior looking like a huge mess.

Lastly, my Whiteline 30mm HD Rear Sway Bar was delivered the other day, so when LCPs Severe Duty Rear Sway Bar Links get delivered I'll be changing all that out as well.

One of the insulators for AC line above the radiator broke and I don't want to pay $40 for 88718-60880. I found this Toyota part that works good enough for me. The longer thread on one side is not a problem for this application. Part number is 88467-30270. It costs $1.11.

Did this!

This showed up on a Baja Facebook page. It’s not my post (hell, I wasn’t even born yet in 1966), but I expect other fellow Baja travelers on the CSC forum will appreciate this.

Rare to see a picture of a 45LV from back in the day. Probably a thread in the 45 section that they would appreciate this picture.
