That is a fantasy of mine for several years.
However, the inner layout of my dreams will necessitate the bed to be a bit higher, due to fixed items (battery, compressor, water tank etc.)
Was wandering, how easy/difficult is it to climb up from the rear?
I'm pushing 50 and will probably be 60 when I finish it🤣
Looking really nice and comfy, good job

It isn't the issue to get into the back, as long as you have the rear bumper step and keep a bit of space on the floor and in front of the bed's edge to fit a foot and the shin to step up.
I always have more difficulties with the headspace.
Cheers Ralf

Yes
That is what I am worried about.
But I have until I'm 60 to figure out a nice step and take some yoga lessons so I can crawl in...😅
It will be used only when it's raining or when I'm too trashed to build the ⛺

Just got back from final trip for the season.
It's getting too hot during the day (38C).
Found some shallow paddles which saved us from the heat and on another day found water in some old wells to restart the the temp ramp on mid day.
Very nice technical driving in the dry creek.
A full 5 hour drive in low range.
Found a totally burned Prado 150 on the way, there was nothing left.
Some pics for your enjoyment

Stripped all the brackets and accessories of the 3B today, and anything else that might be useful as salvage (such as injector pump and EDIC). Now leave me block, crank and seized pistons.

Also tidied up everything that was stashed alongside it, and got it moved over a good half a metre, so I'm gaining some driveway space (and a tidier yard).

Bushings!
IMG_3307.jpeg

Replaced most of the bushings under the KZJ78. Laterals, sway links, leading arms. Still need to do the trailing arms. Finished off with an oil change.

Still have some daylight left so I might try to squeeze in replacing the front pads on the Tacoma. Truck is at 94,000 miles and is still on the original set!

hey there !

it is really easy to climb up as I still have the stock rear bumper with the step. my wife also said it's pretty easy :)

the head room is really comfortable and the living area definitely doesn't feel claustrophobic.

for your information, the height difference between the folded rear seats and the trunk floor is around 22 cm and I have leveled them with foams of around 25 cm thickness.

After 25 years of hard living in the tropics, I retired my exhaust and threw in a Manta from Down Under. Didn't expect too much, but I gotta say the old reliable 1HZ has a pep in her step now. Very pleased. Thanks to Evergreen Offroad for hooking me up. View attachment 3904303View attachment 3904304View attachment 3904305View attachment 3904306
True envy
I have a Power Jet exhaust, going out straight from the passenger side, in front of the rear right wheel.
The wheel is always black, as new🙃
And I always need to find a megical combination of percentage of slightly open windows so that I don't choke on the exhaust gasses.
I think my brain matter is already 40% NOX...
You now have a beautiful system

Little project heat soak stuff on Saturday.

PTP was nice enough to trade me a turbo blankie and heat wrap for my money.

IMG_2180.JPG

Slapped those on. Plan to wrap the SS downpipe then reinstall the OEM heat shield. Also may pull that cowl gasket... looks like it could help let some hot air out. Not really into spacing the hood hinges.

Then went to work on finding a place to stuff a remote trans cooler.

Spoiler. It didn't fit in here >

Where'd your fender guard come from?

turbo and downpipe wrap make a huge difference, really happy with mine

Coastal Offroad front bumper arrived today. Legos for adults.

Don’t know yet when I’ll get to fit this into the schedule but I’m looking forward to it.

Reassembled and running. It's on a cool down cycle now to check for leaks and to draw coolant out of the reservoir.

Not much to report on my end but I did manage to get my custom embossed state issued plates reissued in the color scheme I originally wanted but was not available at the time.

Out with the black/yellow and in with black/white. Looks better on a white cruiser like mine in my opinion.
