What carbs are people running

Hi what carbs are people running that still have them ?I bought a marine carter carb cheap so I thought I would try it marine carbs I think will do A lot better than a stock carter because they are better designed.So I should do better on hills and rocks I hope.

rest are all fuel injected, stock.

I had an edelbrock performer 650 on mine, i think with the off road floats, or whatever deeper bowls, it does really well, i never had much of a problem with it though

holley 670 truck avenger works great up and down hills, alittle flakey off camber over 25 deg for substained periods

Otherwise, I like q-jets. Holleys suck.

V8 Carb

On my 79' FJ40 with 400 GM. - Quadrajet cfm unknown. Neighbor pulled it off a wrecked Camaro, year unknown, I slapped it on my Performer intake, hooked up the lines, didnt adjust a thing, fired right up and I drove it for a year like that. Rebuilt it this winter and put on an electric choke. Runs great at all angles.
On my 74' FJ55 with a 350 GM - Edelbrock Performer 650cfm on a Performer intake. Its my daily driver. The only thing Im gonna do is check the jets and put on an electric choke. So far its only been wheeled a little, so I cant say how it performs at funny angles.
Some bash Q-Jets, but you can find them for $10 at the PNP, rebuild em for $15.
My only other advice is to stay away from Holley carbs from a car. I had one on the 40 before the QJet and it would bog out going over a curb. I guess there are ways to fix that, and there is the Truck Avenger but I never bothered spending the $$. Theres my $.02. Hodag
