Since the :princess: really doesn't give a :censor:, gotta tell someone.

Since the heart attack/stents on 10.16.09, I've dropped a whooping 14 pounds!! :bounce::bounce2::bounce: Couldn't be happier. Pants are now drooping all over me. Down to 196.5 as of this morning and have a goal of 190! May actually hit that before Christmas if I'm lucky!!!

Cardiac rehab exercise and a NFF (no fast food) diet are about all I'm doing! Eating lots and lots of fruit if I have the munchies.

That's awsesome! You'll probably notice lots of other benefits in comfort as well. Keep it up...

I'm just at 5'11" . BMI when I was at 210 was a 29 IIRC and even down to 190 lbs, I'd only be at 26, which for my age - 52, is still high side of normal. Sheez!

When I was much younger...like 25 years ago and doing aerobics with the wife and weighed around 170-175, etc. we both did the body fat dunk test. At that time, based on a fit american male at 15% body fat, my ideal weight was 176. Shiat! I haven't seen weight that low in at least two decades!!! I've also done the tape measurement and caliper body fat tests years ago and they both also had my 'ideal' weight around the 176-179 range.

Good for you Brent. I know you want to get to 175 pounds now.

I am sure you know this, but If I may,

Try to stick to 5-6 smaller meals a day, with a combo of complex carbs, protein and fruit or vegetable at each sitting...start strong in the morning with a good low fat breakfast....egg whites and a bowl of oatmeal for example, give you energy set up for the day. You can get to 170 at your age no problem if you do more moderate weight lifting than cardio (but still find time to do cardio which golf can be part of) muscle mass will increase your body's energy consumption which combined with a more balanced food intake of 5-6 times a day will have less food going to your fat cells.

oh, you can pick up a pinch caliper off ebay for $5 shipped to your door. get one and track your Body fat % with it. It is a better measure than body mass index.

Thanks fir the tips and encouragement James! I do start the morning with oatmeal on weekends, but grab fruit to eat on the morning commute during the week.

I thought this was going to be a thread about all the gear you were relocating to the new trailer, not about the mid section ;-)

LOL - latinoguy used cardio and golf in the same sentence!

Keep it up Brent!

I actually ran on the treadmill last night... funny a few years ago i could run 11 miles no sweat while training for a triathlon.. now i could barely get out 2. lol

Pretty sad. I need to shed some lbs.

Start of slow my friend. You don't want to be too sore or hurt beginning to quickly or pushing past where your level of fitness is right now!

You're probably better off with a brisk walking pace for 20-30 minutes to burn those calories rather than running. Low weight and high reps on the weights too!

hehehe 194.5 on the scale this morning. Don't think I'll hit 190 by 1.1.10, but I'll be close if I watch it thru the holidays!

SocalFJ, I think Brent just called you fat and out of shape.

Or maybe Brent's challenging you to "The Biggest Loser" Socal 80's style.

Dave may admit to both counts! He's got more to lose and I've already lost a good deal. I'll be rooting for Dave tho!

ha!

I can lose your 14 in like 2 weeks. I can knock off weight fast. In fact, just by cutting out beer during the week, i've already shed 5 lbs easily. Fatter, i lose weight quicker LOL!

And my office is upstairs lol

I'll be slim and trim in no time. :D

Time to shop for rollers so i can ride my mtn bike here in the office :D

Ok Dave - I hit my first goal weight of 190 this morning - 20 pounds gone. How are you doing my friend?

Sounds like what I do. Fruit during the week and oatmeal on the weekends for breakfast, lots of salads and more fish. Also - NO FAST FOOD.
