I've owned an '86 LC 2F since it was new. I wonder if a new Redline Weber carb is a good replacement for my original Aisan carb. Any comments?

The stock Aisan is a superior carb and built specifically for the 4.2 LC. If you need to stay smog compliant, then you can not do the Weber. If your truck has the smog equipment deleted, then the Weber is possible, but generally not recommended. You can search here and see all the people who have a weber and are searching for the removed linkage (and a stock carburetor) to return to factory spec.
Best is to remove the stock carb and send it to one of the carb gurus you can find here for rebuild/tweaking.
