Looking for some water tank ideas...

I like this one but the poster has not been on mud for 8 months.

Anyone know a source?

Also interested in water tank mounting ideas.

$29 http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/290343138594?lpid=82 (?) Lots of others available with a google search for rv water tank.

I'd screw some eye bolts to the bottom and use three ratchet straps, three so you still have two the day that one breaks. The eye bolts should be the closed type, not the bent-over ones. Maybe put a metal rectangle around the top so the straps don't deform the plastic tank.

This may be a start...but what are your needs? Do you want enough to shower...just basic drinking water/cleaning up? I think you should start a build thread for your trailer and develop it from there. What's the longest you stay out?

Personaly I like the AT tank they mount on the front. If I was to lay in the bed of the trailer, like in the picture, I would probably lay it flat, and plumb the hook ups out the side.

Just so we are clear, I googled the s*** out of it before I posted. I saw every water tank on the internet, including a billion like the one you posted. However, I didn't see one like the one I posted. I like the large opening at the top.

I do, in fact, know how to use the internet.

A quick shower would be nice, but I do not need it all plumbed, etc. I am a simple man. I want it in the trailer and not up front, to reduce tongue weight. Easy access top with a large opening for filling and a drop in pump.
Something simple and secure. Seems that laying it down and piling stuff on top may lead to rupture...no?

When I was researching water tanks, I found a place that had tanks that were sealed and you had to cut in your own fittings. Unfortunately I do not remember who they were.

I didn't say it. :flipoff2:

I wonder how the plastic welding kits that are around would work in this application?

These dudes have, at least, pictures of the top-opening that you didn't mention in your OP.

That's just it... I saw that website but nobody seems to have one that has those dimensions as the pic I posted. Or at least they don't have pictures of them and the descriptions suck.

Obviously that won't work, it's not Expiditionary enough.

It's been my experience that the simple things, particularly to use, aren't usually simple to design and fabricate. Once in while everything is simple, but not often enough to suit me. Phil's water set-up looks to me like one of those nice exceptions.

I note that the Ronco page lists "Inspection Hatches" that presumably can be added to any tank. Looks like 4" or 6" ID (?) are the options. They aren't particularly inexpensive, but they do open up options.

Interesting and perplexing.

I have a few tanks laying around, large and small but I need to add a second tank to a 1960's Apache tent trailer. This is a Stadium Parking Lot build that requires gray water tank.

Inca Plastics www.incaplastic.com doesn't have the solution and they build more tanks for RVs than any other company on the sunny side of the US. www.ronco-plastics.com ,
Orange County, can't help with this project either.

Google them and check what is available on their web pages. Call Bill Odell at Inca Plastics in Adelanto, CA, because he has some oddball aps laying around.

Beyond that, I am considering a fresh water bladder for the Apache.
