I managed to pick up a 24V 8274 for my BJ42. I have a friend who can draw something up on CAD, saw a video walk around of a FJ40 with an 8274 that seemed to be “floating” and it looked great, As it mounts feet forward this seems possible. Just wondering who has one mounted and how you did it please.

If you search "8274" you'll likely find some pics, especially if you search in the winch section.

Thanks, I did start with a search before posting but came up with nothing. I’ll try again

The link i posted has 25 pages in it. The majority are probably pics of 40's.

Theres a member that makes mounting plates, if you decide not to make one.

Thanks, just been right through it. Don’t know why when I searched 8274 mount it didn’t show. can now see how the aftermarket bumpers do it and can try and figure how to build that into the original bumper which I want to keep, The kit looks good but being in the UK it would cost a fortune to ship!

Here's what i have done in the past.

The built in search feature on many sites leaves a lot to be desired. There is a way to use google to do it and it is much more efficient/accurate.

The stock bumper on my 72 is weak IMHO. You should replace the whole unit. There are lots of designs. Do you have any local fab places? Price of shipping steel is high. Then there is build it yourself. A used stick welder is very cheap. I borrowed one for free. Watch some youtube vids for welding - it not all that hard to make functional stuff - smooth and graceful will take a while.

I frenched the big 90 deg plate into oem bumper with diag supports & a tie to frame at rear of plate on pass side, bumper still unbolts and slides off horns. I kept the bottom piece ofoem bumper and left 1/2" above radius under fairlead so its double wall thru that part. 24 years of pulling all sorts no issues. Clears the Saginaw box with hydro assist & a giant 1/2" plate pitman.

The ones that have a similar plate ( no bottom ) and go behind bumper push the winch to tight against grill for my taste thats why I cut and moved forwad.
I feel the 90* bent plate adds a ton of rigidity. I bolted a tow hook facing down under the bottom of plate that works well for double line pull, etc. I had an additional tie from bottom of plate to frame on driver side by steering but it came out when hydro lines went in, seems it was overkill. FWIW I have replaced the seals in my winch and it has worked for me every time, pulls like a boss.
