After buying so many dogs in search of a decent transmission the Cruiser Chick nearly threatened to put her foot down (didn't though, but I might have to get her an 80)...soooo, I still need trans and tcases, whole or in pieces, preferably usable...maybe I have what you need and we can work a trade...

I have the unit that was in the 59 when I bought it. The cover was off the tranny for a VERY LONG time [where's that barf smilie], but I would assume that the transfer case is still watertight. I've never looked inside it. The whole thing just sits in the corner of my backyard looking lonely.

Would consider trading almost ANYTHING for it. :)

Pop the top cover and check it out....the tailshaft bearing is a "sealed" type, MAYBE it kept the floodwaters out, let me know, at this point I'd take just about anything with a (pitless) shine to it...

Phil, are you still looking for a tranny/transfer, or have you thinned the herd so you don't need it anymore? Might have a lead for you. :)

Archie- I'll let you know after I talk to Phil........I kinda owe him bigtime. :o It's just a lead anyhow....no promises. What do you need? Unless your gears or trashed it should be rebuildable.

Jim,

I just dont know what is wrong with my tranny? I am still driving my rig with the same tranny. it just that it makes noice while shifting between the gears, and sometimes its pops back to neutral from 3rd. I feel either I need new Syncros or it has got something related with clutch, because I feel clutch is too tight too. Otherwise once its in any gear it just drives great.

Also I need rubber boot / ring, which goes around fuel filler neck. and then any clue where I can find shifter boot assambly and parking brake + TC boot assambly including any metal picees. Brake/clutch/accelater padel rubber. parking brake switch etc. I just dont know where to find all these or if i can use anything else for all these.

Phil, make sure it's not the one out of the last 25 he just got. I remember seeing the picture of the transmission when it was on Ebay a while back  . If that's the one make sure he dumps the water out before he ships it. It's bad enough paying for all the extra rust without paying to ship the water too  One of these days I need to check the condition of my transmissions maybe I need one too. ;p

John- Is iron oxide heavier than steel? Anyhow, I put the shift cover back on before the 10" of rain we had the last week. ;p

Archie- I'll send you a note, there's part numbers for the pedal pads from Toyota and the filler grommet from McMaster-Carr in the first and second post here: Parts Numbers

So that's why it always seems like it's cheaper to ship things from the east coast to AZ than it is to ship From AZ to the east coast
