Looking for a clean FJ40, prefer 1976 to 1982, but will consider earlier years. Don't mind paying for shipping, especially from states that don't salt roads. Would like it primarily rust free and with a 2F, not intrested in SBC. Dosent need to be a museum piece, and I don't mind it needing mechanical, upholstery, wiring or paint work. Just can't do welding or body work though. Drop me a PM, thanks- Don

Don,

I may have what you are looking for. I have a 78 FJ40 with 61K original miles. It is mostly stock, but I have added a suspension lift and springs, which has made it more functional for desert exploring with friends. I also had a 24 gallon auxillary fuel tank built and installed so we can take extended trips with a total of about 39 gallons. You flip a switch on the dash and the fuel gauge switches over to the other tank, as does the fuel flow. It has the 2F which has good compression. Four speed and transfer case work perfectly with good synchros. It presently has white spoke wheels and 285X16 Michelin LTX tires, but I also have the stock 15 inch grey steelies and hub caps. There is very little rust anywhere. It is currently registered and a weekend driver in Southern California and lives in the garage all the rest of the time. Stock Aisin carb and all of the smog stuff. I just had a new 2 1/2 inch exhaust system made from the down-pipe back with a magnaflow mufler. Everything works, blinkers, heaters, dome light, fan, etc.

Very little rust anywhere with no perforations anywhere. PM me if you are still interested. I'm not eager to sell, but with 2 kid in college, it might be time.

Blue Ox FJ40 no longer for sale

Thanks to the members who responded to my last post.

However, after a day of looking at it in the garage and considering getting rid of it, I'm thinking about what would replace it and how much I have enjoyed it. I've decided to retract my last post and keep the truck. It is too difficult to find a clean FJ40 with low miles and I just have too much fun with this one, whether I am using it or wrenching on it.

I'm going to keep this truck and the kids in college can get part time jobs. Best wishes to all of you on finding your own trucks that meet your needs at a price that works!

Back to the top! 100 bucks still being offered, in todays economy that will buy you a pair of jeans and a hollow gumball.:)

I am looking to get rid of my 40 this spring to get into something else.

My buildup is in the 40 section. Looking to get $7000.00 obo.

I can email you info on it.

1966 no top. needs only a few things to be reliable. Only thing different from this pic is no more super swapmers, has less aggressive mud terrain type tires. I do not use it enough too many toys.

fj40

I have a frame off restore from Texas. It is my sons daily driver. It has a hardtop now. The Rest of the Story. (73 Build) is the summary thread. I have recently had power steering gearbox rebuilt. Changed stereo to 10" sub behind rear seat. New seat covers front and rear. If I were to keep the truck I would : install steering bearing kit and u-joint to steering to make it smoother. Add heater defrost ducts. Missing 1 latch for rear hatch(need to install..I have it just haven't installed). replace oil pan gasket (has a leak) My price would have to be $21,500. OBO
I know that is higher than you want to spend but this is a SOLID frame off restore.
PM or email

I would possibly sell my 1970 FJ40. Very close to stock. 3 speed on the floor. Many new parts on vehicle. Not a beauty queen, just a nice functioning classic cruiser with minimal issues. PM for details if you are interested.

Yep, been checking and emailing. I do have a couple I am looking at and waiting for some photos. I do love that search utility!

Socal 78

Some pics, been left in the desert for 10 years, tires and wheel are not part of the truck, will have some OEM rims with misc tires.

Grill from other 40 will go with this 40.

have you found a FJ 40 yet? I will be putting my 78 up for sale shortly. It has some rust but is in overall very good running condition. Rebuilt 2F with 55+K on it. Disc brakes on both axes, very stock. I will be selling it as I have moved into a new house and no longer have the extra garage space for the FJ. She has never lived out side for the last 12 years.

Cheers
Mike
