Trying out a friends wheels...

Had to use a front hub cap on the rear for the FF hub to stick through. I don't think I could have fit a rear hub cap over the hub.

Hubcaps, and lose the raised white letters. Just my opinion...

I'm with "island45". My '55 is "old school" and my '45LV will also be "old school" but with the period hubcaps for a '67 FJ45LV (the unobtainium ones :) )!

I've tried both, and now I'm moving towards a third option: wagon wheels painted grey. Only have one done so far, but I'll try and post a pic by the end of the week.

i think the hub capped wheels look better but I think the lpb's look best with the split rims painted grey that is what does it for me. and whaite letters in for sure.

Ditto on Old School here too.

Some other pictures. I'm still not sure about the rear hub cap with the FF hub sticking through. Does anyone know if the standard rear hub cap will fit over the FF hub? I didn't even think about trying when I was borrowing the wheels.

Those chrome/alloy 'wagon wheels' appear to be real popular with the chicks and gays.

I prefer good old Toyota steel wheels, with tires black side out.
The Toyota part number for 16" non-split rims: #42601-60262-03. They are grey about $80 each incl delivery.

My LC only 'advertises' Toyota, it's not a NASCAR racer, and I don't need to wear brands to create an identity.

It just depends on the image one wants to project, or not.

Thanks for all of the feedback, even the brutally honest feedback J.Galt. The wagon wheels were a gift from my wife when I bought the truck. I'd like to go to the factory look, but never had a set available to do a test fit. I think I'll start hunting for some rims.

I had an opportunity to get a set of 16" splits off my friends Troopy, but I decided against it when none of the local tire shops would touch the things. It seems splits are on some sort of black list.

So, I'll have to start looking for 15" and get some tall skinnies mounted. The ones in the picture are 33x10.5.

Sorry 'bout that, not to criticize anyone's gifts.

Sell the bling and buy 16" Toyota steelies, and have enough left over to take your wife out to dinner.

16" wheels give you better MPG and there is a much better selection of good truck tires for less money.

If you go with 16" stock wheels, look at 255 x 85 x 16's. I run them on my F350 and I think Bull has them on his 16" toyota split rims. Nice tall skinnys.
