While the panel is out it would be the perfect time to apply some sound/heat insulation. That would also add some cushioning to anything likely to try to dent the outside.

nice, thanks!

Is the Evap unit mounted/held in place to something in it's new position or is just kind of floating there?

Mine is just floating there. It is tight up in the corner and the stiff hoses keep it in place.

Holding the bag

Couple of cheap 4" blown stereo speakers and bungie might give you a mounting point that wouldn't require a permanent change. Just stick the magnet side of the speaker to the inside of the fender and a hoss enough magnet won't slide around.

Just my $.02 idea - going for the under $5.00 mod. :)

You still don't have yours installed Sam?

Anyway, they pretty much just stick back in the corner. That's where mine has been for the last 40k.
If you drill out the spot welds on the vertical support that holds the evap you can then bolt it back in place as well, but then it is in the way of the storage.

Very nice:cheers:

I was thinking that some fitted styrofoam like that used to pack computers and such, might work well to keep things in place, while at the same time acting as a sound deadener?

If/when it gets old, just replace it;)

Cheap, easy to form....just a thought?

@kevinmrowland I'm digging this up because I'm giving my 60 a spa treatment.

The evaporator is my question. I saw one post where someone said that it keeps down the raw fuel smell.

Well, mine has had a raw fuel smell ever since I moved the evaporator

I want to remove it completely. Why can't I do this? My 60 is fully desmogged except for this contraption.
