Focus on the lights..... headlights, Directionals (f&r), plate light in the rear, brake lights, reverse lights and horn. Ebrake and seatbelts.

No big leaks, no gunky axles.

Make sure it has good brakes and stops straight, no funny vibes. Don't go to a dealership for inspection under ANY means.

Love to but I'm in the same boat!

Sure Lane, I would be delighted to have you come over an help. :)

Um....several problems with my wiring. I have new tail lights and must have wired them incorrectly. The turn signals don't work. Brake lights turn on the reverse lights. On the dash board, I have no lights in the instrument cluster working, and the hazard light switch turns on the blower fan. When I depress the cigarette lighter, it blows the fuse......its all fxxxed.

what night? Tomorrow? We can hogtie mike to help. I am of little help with wiring, but might be able to subdue mike long enough to get him in my trunk.

Sweet...sounds like this is working out. Mike, Dan and Jared are in......Only seems appropriate that one final night of wiring is needed.....as it was basically this same crew that helped me cut the freaking tub off last winter and start this build.

I kinda feel like I have one or two more posts to make on this thread before making my final entry.....time to close this one out and let others take up YT web space. :)

Yeeeehaaaaaa!!!!!!

Had a big shakedown run this morning. Covered about 100 miles. I was able to visit a friends house on 30 acres, toyed a bit on some logging trails. 4w Low works terrific.

From there in Jericho, VT I headed out towards Stowe, VT...winding my way up and then down Smuggler's Notch. I felt like the motor and brakes got a good workout. It was cool outside today, near to 65 degrees. The engine temp never got up over 175. The speedo turned off, not sure if a cable came loose or what. No strange noises, rattles or anything.....just about 6 comments from various on lookers throughout the day. Felt pretty nice.

I do have a leaking oil pan, right near the skid. I will replace the pan with a spare from Rabid before the FG. I noticed a nice crack in a heater hose as well and anticipate replacing those as well. If those are finished, I'll try to finish painting the pale green onto the truck...fenders, hood, and aprons need painting still.

Otherwise....a terrific day.

that was a pretty bold first outing.

Nice.

I'da been happy driving around the block a few times on my first time out...VERY cool first run

Thanks fellas....damn happy the major part of this project is coming to a close in time to enjoy the FG.

Last night I replaced the leaking oil pan and installed a new OE gasket. The old pan had a rust hole causing substantial seepage on the base of the pan. That's fixed. Both the front and rear heaters are installed now...new heater hoses....

11:50pm last night I was tooling around the neighborhood with heat at my feet and a s*** eating grin on my face!

Look for me at the fall gathering....I'll be the guy with the half painted truck. :)
