That shelf bracketing is also quite the discussion point.

Dr. @JohnnyC , paging Dr. John.

We have historical photographs of Ohno's cap, but I haven't been able to find any reference to this one. Haven't done a super deep dive into my literature yet, but at quick glance I came up empty. Looks very nice, but has the musty smell of old age. Don't we all. There's a small sleeve on the interior for what I assume to slip an ID tag inside. No labels to be found. Recall coming across pictures of someone wearing one? Everyone else, feel free to offer thoughts and opinions also.

I still think you should start a thread, "Just Ask John".

It's a pretty modern cap then, which might be the reason I couldn't find it in any older reference books. Thanks a ton @JohnnyC !

I was a little paranoid taking this refurb project on because of the scarcity of the horn button (from a few posts up). Figured for most guys there would be about a 50/50 chance of screwing it up beyond repair. That equates to about a 90% flub up rate for me.

Had to take off more material than I cared to in order to eliminate the pitting. Started out with 80 grit on the orbitial sander, then several passes with 200, 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, then wet 2000. Turned out pretty decent. The acrylic/plastic cover appears to have microcracking so I'm not sure I want to attempt it. Might just leave well enough alone.

My sophistication level increased two-fold just by getting this set of 15 tea cups: it went from 1 to 2 on a scale of 1-10. I might need to start eating tarts too. That would bump me clear up to a 4.

Judging by the description and the “ ‘51 “ on the lid, It may have been a prize in the first-annual "All Toyota Challenge" back in 1951. Wish I could be certain. Like the TEQ cap above, I couldn't find any reference to the contest in any literature, but did find the info in the last pic on the Toyota Global website. The second to last pic compares the cup box to an old tool box for scale.

Would be reeeally cool to have one of those basketball or running jerseys. More stuff to try to hunt down. @JohnnyC thanks again John. I'll post if I find anything in the 20-year anniversary book.

@dmamj @JohnnyC Dan and John,

I gotta ask, where do you guys store all this stuff? I would imagine a huge company like Toyota Inc. would likely monogram almost anything imaginable and then some, and after seeing CruiserDan's sewing machine hoard, who knows?

For someone who likes Lamborghinis or Porsches, I know they make tractors, so those poor collectors have just gotta get one of those too. And the Tesla owner, does he need one of those new-fangled rocket ships of Elon's to complete a collection ?! My head's about to explode with the magnitude of serious collecting !

Thank-God I haven't got bit by the bug...........now wait a minute, there..............

I think Longo Toyota has got one of those huge 100 foot neon dealership signs they put up next to the freeway just sitting in their back lot for someone who.......................... Maybe your missus wouldn't mind you guys installing one in the front yard across the top of the roof--surely the neighbors wouldn't complain. What was that on Seinfeld about Kenny Rogers Roasters red sign burning out Kramer's retinas ?!

Ha.

@Bear Michael, the neighbors would be fine with the Longo Toyota sign, but the HOA would probably come down pretty hard! I'm on their radar - just got a letter saying I'd better pick my weeds.

If a tool or collectible doesn't fit on top of the Husky cabinet, on the wall, or in/on the green tool chest, it gets traded or sold (I did bring the tea cups inside the house though!). I'm looking to pare down a bit anyway, so there may be some more action in the classifieds soon.

This thread is a bit mind blowing
I never knew there was so much cool teq s***e, im not into collecting things but this almost ignites the spark

I really don’t have all that much stuff… mostly files … pics … and information all digital

I am an information horder lol

Btw in looking for the “all toyota general competition” I found information about this:

Always run into the neatest things when looking for something completely different lol

I do see uniforms come up for sale now and again … not the older stuff above … more modern baseball jerseys… basketball and soccer
