Made in Japan label but Korean casting.

Welcome to Toyota, the new GM.

I wish I could remember the exact wording, but I saw some product recently that had note on the label to the effect of “meets all federal regulations to be called ‘Made in the USA”.

🤔

Amazing thread! I’ll dig out some of my oddballs and snap some pics!

Is there a part number for a Toyota fire extinguisher?

I have some JDM fire extinguishers. I'll see if any have an actual Toyota part number.

More from the non-tool files.

Looks like this was given away at a Toyota seminar decades ago, but who got them and how many were given is a mystery. It's only about a 1cm x 1.5cm. There are three Japanese characters on the reverse. The last two translate to "silver".
Maybe the first is "fine" or something comparable.

I also like the rising sun design. Cool little trinket.

That’s a nice find... made me look a little online to find more about that... Found this one online instead lol....

Tokuriki Sterling silver commemorative medal presented to Yokohama Toyopet to commemorate selling 200 units with the Toyota shield silver.

(Loosely translated from the words on the reverse)

Come to find out...

Yokohama Toyopet formed in 56’ and 10,000 units sold by 61’

This is most likely from 56? Unless they went to individual when they sold 200 units individually (it’s unclear the purpose)

Come to also find out it was one of seven original toyopet dealers formed to handle toyopet sales

Sales were so good from the original 7 that 37 more dealers in 56’ were formed to handle the demand and 11 more in 57’

X2 definitely 80’s ... the twin cam was doing very well in Toyota’s emergence in full time racing

81 or so was when the 2800twin cam developed .... so it dates it to no earlier than then.

I guess 82-88 ... very big time for toyota in racing ... it could have been a Tom’s tool box they were officially recognized Toyota speed shop and had many successful years for toyota in racing

Team Tom’s ... not only were they Toyota’s speed shop they also had accessories that you could purchase... I know today they plaster the TOM’S logo on everything... don’t know if it was that was back them

Just a thought
