Hugo roof rack 003.webp
I am looking for something simple for the roof of the fj55. I have seen other wagons with retro vintage looking roof load bars. I am looking for something that fits the vintage year of the fj55. I don't think a standard newer style load bar would look good on there (ie: thule or ?). There has got to be a mfg. of new vintage style clamps and load bars out there. Anyone have any reccomendations?

I don't want a full rack, just the gutter clamps and load bars.

something like this in the pic?

Thanks!

Noah

That's exactly what I did for my cruiser (which is for sale, incidentally). I used a water pipe, cut to length and drilled for the through bolt. I have had a lot of weight up there. For your referenced:

If you have time, check garage sales.

I have seem these old gutter mounts for sale sometimes.

Guppie,

Here's the ones I'm using. Powder coated to match grill, bumpers, etc. I haven't made the rack yet, but will have four of these on each side.

Npulver,

No, I didn't. A fella in the 60 forum made them and I can't find him anymore. I have his name, from paypal, but can't contact him. I'll like two more of them, myself. Easy enough to make, with one of those CNC machines. I could do it by hand, just not as pretty.
