Short answer is yes. I'm working on LS swapping my 74 now, and I ordered just the condenser/evaporator - no compressor or hoses/fittings.Can you modify a VA kit for a LS swap? IE - no compressor and the right hose fittings for a GM compressor?
You will also want the modified hose kit and a trinary switch if running an electric fan.Short answer is yes. I'm working on LS swapping my 74 now, and I ordered just the condenser/evaporator - no compressor or hoses/fittings.
Hmmm, so it's $600 more than a FJ40 kit that includes the compressor? You will also want the modified hose kit and a trinary switch if running an electric fan.
751201 Evaporator kit with HP blower about $1250
Condenser kit $320
Modified hose kit $170
Trinary switch $66
With shipping it’s about $2100 and a 15 week wait.
I would order everything accept for the compressor and mounting bracketHmmm, so it's $600 more than a FJ40 kit that includes the compressor?
Not sure which kit you’re referring to. Evaporator kit is $1070 or $1250. Complete kits with compressor and bracket are $1895 or $2050.Hmmm, so it's $600 more than a FJ40 kit that includes the compressor?
I was looking at the OPs site:Not sure which kit you’re referring to. Evaporator kit is $1070 or $1250. Complete kits with compressor and bracket are $1895 or $2050.
What you don't need from the above picture is the compressor mounting bracket (need one specific for LS engine) and compressor with a rib drive, instead of a v-belt. Vintage Air can get you all that as well.
Yes. See the picture a few posts aboveI’m not sure if I should start a new thread since this one seems to have a lot of input…. My question is: If I want to add a/c to my basically stock 1975 FJ40, is there a recommendation for a kit that has it all included?…. install it and add Freon?
Wouldn’t it hit the bump stop before hitting the compressor?A full pull LS swap donor usually comes with the original compressor still in place. It’s low on the engine and doesn’t leave much clearance to the front diff.

I haven’t yet cycled the suspension to be sure. At rest, there’s less room between the diff and comp than between the axle and bump stop.Wouldn’t it hit the bump stop before hitting the compressor?
