@ToyotaMatt

I finally was able to install the new fender wall I.D. plate, that I purchased from you, in my 1973 FJ40 .

It's positioned a little higher than original, since the original was somewhat hidden behind the battery tray.

Due to my aversion to drilling holes in painted metal, I cut the heads off the stainless steel sheet metal screws and super-glued them to the plate. I then used the 3M VHB tape to attach the plate to the fender wall.

Looks great! Thanks again for a quality product!

Do you know for the 73 MY, what was the correct way of attaching this inner fender plate? Rivets, machine screws/nuts, taping screws? Thank you in advance.

Sheet metal screws.

Since I wasn't going to drill holes in my newly painted fender, I used 3M VHB tape and superglued screw heads for the authentic factory look.

@Rissu I wouldn’t suggest doing business with him. I got scammed on his website this year as have many others. He willingly took my order, but never responded to any emails or contact attempts and never shipped anything. Had to file a complaint with the Maryland Attorney General’s office.

WOW! I still do business with him. He is not a scammer he just has many (too many) irons in the fire and might be easily distracted?
I ordered from him in early July and had my item within 2 weeks.
Glad you got your parts. He may not be a scammer with you, but he was with me and many other people. I posted in the forum (here) about my issues with him and people responding were definitely not as positive as you. They also linked another thread about him scamming other people. So, I would say he's a scammer. I received nothing since my order in early May (no responses to multiple emails nor what I ordered). I'm in sales and could never treat customers like this. If he's too overwhelmed or distracted as you put it, then take a pause on orders and catch up. Or, at least respond to customers that order on your website. I ordered in early May. I think that's plenty of time to respond. He just took my money plain and simple.

@tstepp920 - Sorry for getting off the rails on your thread. Just want to warn people as I missed seeing the signs as previous threads on Mud show.

History is full of people that were very smart design and product wise but were poor business wise. They went bankrupt, sometimes several times; does that make them a scammer? Freedom fighter or terrorist? Kind of depends what side you are on doesn't it.

I don't have enough money to waste and I don't need the stress gambling it away - so I'm careful where I order from.

Semantics I guess. If it's not the right word, then people can correct me. Point is he took my money/order, never responded to multiple emails, and never shipped the product. And, I am not alone. There are many with the same story. Just trying to help a fellow Mud member by giving them a heads up on how he has taken money from many members here.

@brasskey, out of character I’m going to make this post.
Go jump in the lake! I understand you may have been a real DB when doing business with Vinyage Teq. How long ago was this?
Not sure you are being completely honest about your involvement and interactions with Vintage Teq? Vintage Teq has produced and brought the Land Cruiser community some awesome parts and pieces. Yep, he struggled and got called out on it. Starting a business like that is difficult and a lot has been learned and business models adjusted.
Might want to take your whinny ass somewhere else, please!

Not sure why you have to be so abrasive and resort to gaslighting me. I had my money taken as have many others here. I am being honest. As I mentioned previously, my order was in May and I have a thread on it which I linked. I know he has brought many positive things to this community in the past for many, many years. That's why I ordered from him. But, things seemed to have changed for many these past few years as many posts attest to here on Mud. Do you think all the people here on Mud that posted about issues with him are not being honest? There's a bad seller page dedicated to him. I suppose all those people are lying. Again, happy you have had positive business with him and continue to do so. That's just not my experience nor the experience for many others here. I was just trying to warn others by posting when he was mentioned. If you think I'm a whiny ass for placing an order and getting no communication nor the item, then I guess I'll accept that. But, I don't like to get my money taken for a product and getting nothing shipped in return. I am sorry I offended you as you obviously think more of him than those of us that have been taken advantage of by him.

Seems like you know him well. I wasn't refunded through Shopify. I had to do a charge back after he never responded to multiple emails on the order. I didn't get a good feeling after I came to Mud and other members shared their stories. As far as scam, yes, it means, "to deceive and defraud (someone)." He deceived and defrauded me here by taking my money and not providing a product. If he would have simply responded to any of my multiple emails saying he was delayed, behind, or even just acknowledged he was working on it, then I would have understood. Again, call it what you want (bad business practice instead of scam), that's fine with me. The total lack of response was unexpected and disappointing.

Looks like you're in CO. Happy to get together sometime and buy you a beer to and show you I'm an honest person and not a whiny ass. Thanks for your quick input and letting me know maybe I and others on here are wrong about him. If you think I should give him another chance and my experience was a anomaly, then happy to talk about it over a beer. 🍻

It fun to look things up,
Is this you?
I appreciate your offer for beer and conservation but I will gracefully decline your invitation. Thanks though.

Everyone deserves a second chance.

Name actually is from the last name from Bill Brasky SNL skit. Didn't know I misspelled it when I originally used it. But, appreciate the conspiracy theory.
