Back when I first purchased my locked 97 TLC from CarMax in March of 2007, they provided me with a clean CarFax
Since I had plans on listing her on BAT, I ran another CarFax sometime last year to add to records and of course, it came up clean again with some added registration details throughout my years of ownership.
Went through BAT's submission process and they provided their own CarFax that's a little more in depth with a bit more service information.
It appears that back in March of 2001 @ 38,501 miles , the speedometer assembly was replaced by the dealer (Performance Toyota & Volvo in PA)
This was not mentioned in the previous CarFax's
The next service record in September of 2001 shows 39,633 miles, so I have no reason to suspect any foul play with the odometer
Not that it really matters since this happened 6 years before I took ownership and I have more than enough documented history from my time with her, but I'm just curious as to what was the reason for the replacement? (failed needle, cracked glass, etc.)
Would also like to know in case someone on BAT requests further details.
Is there any way I can view the actual service records online through Toyota's website dating back this far?
I know I was able to do this with Lexus years ago after providing a VIN
