I was all set to pull the trigger on a Victory4x4 roof rack for the 200 and went to the shop to do it today and the shop told me they just stopped carrying Victory4x4 because they went to a “direct-to-consumer only” business model. I called around and apparently no shops in my state carry or will install Victory products as of about a week ago. I was hoping to buy from a shop so they’d install it for me and be the warranty support if any was ever needed down the line. And frankly, I don’t want to spend and entire Sunday putting together a roof rack and trying to get it on my truck in a way that won’t rattle/leak/scratch/whatever. I have better things to do with my time.

The shop carries Prinsu, which was my second choice.

Now I’m back to the drawing board and would like to get your roof rack thoughts: Prinsu or Victory4x4? And why? (No, not interested in any of the other brands)

Thanks!

Very happy with my Prinsu and I was a guy that said I would never get an aftermarket roof rack. Initially, modified the OEM rack with 80/20 cross bars which worked out good but adjustability and flexibility required more effort. That led me to the Prinsu.

I have 40" LED cutout. Added BD scene lights and grab handles on each side. Rhino awning mounts easily with quick disconnects. Have some Front Runner mounting ring tie downs and their shower extension arm. Just got some new Front Runner Wolf Pack Pro boxes with their mounts and should be easy - will try and test this weekend.

Anyway, like the low profile, flexibility and no signs of rust (I upgraded to stainless steel hardware for rails & crossbars).

I was in the same boat last fall. I do like the fit and finish of the victory rack but i feel it's a bit too busy on the side rails with all the squarish cut outs. I'm still debating and haven't pulled the trigger on any of the options.

What are you going to use your rack for?
I had a prinsu and pulled it. I initially got it because it’s aluminum, low profile, and very sleek; however, functionality, I had a lot of issues with it.

- the spacers are not adjustable and you might have a hard time getting all your crossbars in-line to the same plane.
- the side rails are extremely floppy. No chance of supporting a leg-less 270 awning
- the cross rails are held sideways by screws (sheer force on screws). This always made me nervous.

Most people won’t notice or care about these things, just giving you a heads-up.

I have a Prinsu and even though I like it for what it is, I have to agree with this sentiment.

I use mine mostly to bolt a 95l Roam Box, my Maxtrax, Rotopax and a camp table when I go exploring. Its great for light use cases like this, but even then I still had a bunch of screws heads shear off at one point and needed to have Prinsu send me new crossbars to avoid drilling the screws out.

Its a great rack if you slather their s***ty hardware with anti-seize and don’t try and mount things like 270 awnings off the side or a heavy RTT. It definitely adds more function than stock.

If I had do over I would do Dissent or Rhino.

My planned use for the rack would be to mount a Thule Summit ski box in winter, some side/rear flood lights, fuel cans, maxtrax, and an awning.

Nothing to add in regard to the racks. However, as someone who spends an inordinate amount of time on this and another highly-trafficked vehicle enthusiast forum, this is pretty-much the archetypal reply...asking the intended use and then describing the perceived pros and cons. Everyone has an opinion, but they really only become relevant when one gives a cogent explanation and does so with consideration of the OP’s line of questioning. Replies like these are what make these forums so constructive.

Looks like an even more low profile prinsu. Interesting.

You might consider an all welded rack such as ARB or Gramiviti if you do much off roading. A couple of friends had Prinsu racks on their Toyotas, but the powder coating was horrible and they were always tightening bolts They both replaced their racks with ARB BASERACK when they became available.
I had the 51x84 ARB BASERACK with the Slimline lightbar installed on my LC200 a month ago. Mounting kit attached to the four factory mounting points on each side. This rack is meant to carry a large roof tent or lots of gear. Fit and finish are typical ARB quality and surprisingly the cost is inline with many other racks.

what's the wind noise like on that size rack? I installed and took off the 61x51 bc of how ungodly noisy it was. The updated mounting kit made it worse and that was with the new wind deflector. Was pretty disappointed but am still seeking a solution.

Both of these are at the top of my list as well as the Dissent Rack. From my understanding the Prinsu has 4 mounting points per side (total of 8 for the rack) while the Victory uses 3 per side to secure the side rails to the roof. @Sverige is this accurate about the mounting points for the Victory rack?

That is correct but I don't think 3 mounting points are inadequate.
Here's my review on Victory 4x4

I'd agree all the rack options discussed in this thread you can't go wrong with any of them. I've had my Prinsu for 5 years no regrets, no loose bolts, the powdercoating is starting to weather a bit with use but I expected it. I have zero complaints and can configure it to fit the trip we're planning. A few Land Cruiser buddies and I set off every Spring for a 9 day cross-country trip thousands of miles of gravel, forest roads and offroad trails and I've had no issues. I even use some Front Runner accessories on my Prinsu like their gas can holder and awning mounts. I've helped my nephew build out an 04 4R and he went with the Victory rack I can say they are very similar and if the name wasn't on it I would think it was a Prinsu. I do prefer the 4 mounts over the 3 mounts for the weight but so far he likes it and has no issues.

Between the Prinsu and Victory I am leaning in favor of the Prinsu mainly due to the additional 4th mount. I would like to have the ability to later on add a 270 awning however Prinsu doesn’t seem to advise using one on their rack…go figure as Victory and Sherpa racks don’t mention this and they only use 3 mounting feet. I can’t tell a visual difference between these options, design and materials look nearly identical only that Prinsu utilizes 4 mounting points. This all has me reconsidering the Dissent rack as a top choice once it’s a available.
