My '06 had the TSB - EXHAUST BOOMING AT IDLE done today. Without question it reduced the vibration significantly. The down side is part of the TSB repair is a HUGE #50lb (looks like anyway:rolleyes:) weight they bolt to the bottom of the frame rail, nice. I reinstalled the factory drivers side weight prior to TSB work. Tomorrow I will remove both weights and see if any vibration returns.

Did they charge an arm and a leg for the TSB Exhaust Booming Fix? My wife's 2003 has the problem while my 99 does not. Drives me crazy every time I drive hers. From what I have understood about the TSB is that it can be as simple as adding weights to redoing parts of the exhaust system.

Sounds like it can get pricey.....

Thanks

Pretty much the same deal our '99 is without any issue. Mr T picked up the tab  Motor mounts, exhaust hangers and weights it what I understood. Parts $950 and most of a day labor:eek:but a big thanks goes out to Camelback Toyota and Mr T Im vib free.

  • My 04 is acting in a similar way. It was just in for 90k service, diff service, and full trans service - could this become apparent after something like that?
It was completely fine for the first 90k miles.

Same here, 04 and after 90k service I get a vibration while in gear. Weird we are all having the same problem...

Yes, very.

Mine shudders in reverse as well. It stalled one morning after it started for 2 seconds.

Thanks, I doubt that anyone will cover mine for me. Ugh. For me the vibration is not nearly as much of an issue as the odd resonance that builds up over time. Sometimes it is a low drone, while at others it just builds and builds. This will happen even while driving. So if on cruise control I have to step on the gas every once and a while to kill it.

At stop lights I am always throwing between Drive and Neutral.

Maybe a grand to fix it isn't so bad after all.

Funny, we bought her's to be the cushy LC, yet sometimes mine is the more comfortable choice. Odd.

I see there was no further follow up on this old thread, but my 04 did that same, turned out to be a loose plastic cover under the passenger side dash (a/c component cover)

sorry to resurrect old thread, I had the same problem and drove me crazy to the point where I wanted to sell the truck. My brother visited one day and checked out the truck and noticed a rubber dampening that hangs the muffler to the hook of the truck has fallen off. So he put it together and inadvertently fix my problem. I would never thought it originated from the muffler, always sound like it came from the front drive shaft or axles. Now the resonance drone is gone!

I have that vibration too - 2002 LX
