toy4fun, happy to see another carbon county native

Hammerhead and 78_one_owner: I emailed our club pres about a wheelin' trip down there and haven't heard from him about it... :slap:. We're having a Christmas Party this month so I will try to get some info then.

Cool. I've been talking with Milt (owns 4x4 shop and does runs) about the best areas to have a group and he agrees that Sand Hollow is the ticket. Was out there a couple of days ago riding dirt bikes with my brother and decided I need to spend more time there. Holy cow is that place big. There is more slickrock than I had thought. After the holiday insanity blows over everyone will have more time and money for a good outing like this.

New officers were appointed at the christmas party on Saturday night and they are all totally excited about it and ready to rock. The new Pres asked for submissions for runs and trails and events so I posted the suggestion for Sand Hollow or Red Mountain to our private email list yesturday evening. Haven't heard a peep about it since... I also posted it on our sites BB. We'll see what happens. I talked to a couple of the guys in the club about it and if the club isn't interested in a run down there, we'll get a group together to cruise down anyway.

So here's an official invite for anyone intersted in going down to post up when they think might be a good time to go down and any other thoughts on it. It'd be nice to get all the IH8MUDers from Utah (and surrounding area) together for a run and bein's how it's winter, down south would be a great place to visit...

Count me in for sure. I'm already here so any time is good for me. I've been working with 78 One owner and Milt to get the best spots worked out. They even built a new access tunnel at Sand Hollow for us to get to the good crawling area from the lake. There are a few loops already laid out too so come on down. It's gonna be a good time.

Hammerhead, you got any pics of the Sand Hollow OHV area? Maybe know of any on-line any where? Is the area like just a sand dune area? There is some talk that it might just be big red sand dunes and most WC members have stated they would like to avoid sand dunes 'cause of all the motos and atvs and such as it could be quite a bit more dangerous with them runnin' all over the place... (Atleast the sand dunes by Delta are anyway. That place can't last a week without a serious injury...) Whatchya think? ???

Haven't been around the ih8mud much. But Ferg, I am interested in seeing some new sites. Let me know when you plan on heading down.

We have a house in Manti and get up the canyons there a lot. Good to know there are some other cruisers there too. Had one of the Frieshnects give us a ride in their cruiser once when we were in a bind and walking out. Red FJ40 I think.

Ferg,
If you're talking about Jericho it is nothing like that. It IS big and it IS red but it is not just dunes. There are also some good slickrock loops and a lot of unexplored area. The ATVs and MCs all congregate at the bowl and at the competition hill. The trails also connect to the Warner Valley area with Fort Pierce, the Hurricane ridge, and the Dinosaur tracks. Milt Thompson of Dixie 4x4 had a club for years and did many runs in that area. I'm working with him to layout more loops to take groups on and we should be marking some of them with the cooperation of the BLM and Parks. We can also visit the Devils Bowl area near Toquerville for another interesting loop. With Red Mountain trail and The Wash (not named yet) near Veyo also available I'm sure we could keep everyone busy. We even have some extreme stuff for those who like to try breaking things. I can show you where the UROC event was, if you like also, but you won't catch me trying that stuff. Those guys are sick. I'm trying to talk my Bro-in-law out of a digital camera so I can post some pics.

LIVERUST - welcome aboard.

I thought It was Devil's Hole. Anyway, it's between Leeds and Toquerville. Easiest access and parking is on the Toquer side.

Wow! Everybody is too busy during the holidays?

Well, Holiday's are now over. Let's wheel gentleman. We need to choose a weekend that is good for the majority. We also should discuss what type of terrain we want to hit. We can accomadate anyone from the casual sightseer to the hardcore rockcrawler and anyone in between. We have also been working on a wash near Veyo but it isn't for anyone who doesn't want scratches on their rigs.

Let's get together on this and plan out a killer weekend. I know it's warmer down here so I'm expecting to hear some enthusiasm.

My son is in Cedar City today checking out the University. If he ends up going there I'll need to find some nice trails around there. It would be a good excuse to go down on the weekends and wheel.

Cool. I hear it's a good school. There is a ton of wheelin to be done around here. My old friend Dean Bulloch knows the Cedar area better than anyone so we'll hook up with him for the good trails.

We have completed the first leg of our newest local trail. We're calling it a 3++ but a few friends think it's a 4 or better. They only say that because they recieved some minor body damage. We're still working on the next leg and hope to have it ready soon.

Whatever happened to the idea of putting together a wheeling/camping trip to Dixie in Feb. ??? It'll be alot of fun whether we choose to meet at the new State ORV Park, Red Mtn., Or the new trail we are pioneering, or all of the above. I need to know soon so I can schedule disabling my truck and getting the mods I have scheduled to be done prior to the Easter Heep Safari. ;)

Man, I havne't been around here too much lately... The WC club has posted a schedule of events and though they are doing some newer areas this year, there is no plans for anything in Dixie--but I think they are gonna try to make it to the Glitter Gulch Gambol that's down near Mesquite that takes place in October sometime I believe--you guys could defintely hook up for that one.

Anyway, I've got some personal/family matters goin' on right now and my carby is givin' me fuss so I'm kinda stuck right now. I'm hopin' to get the carb rebuilt this week or next or something...but honestly I don't know for sure, nor do I know if I could make it down to dixie anytime soon. As for the WC, they are doin' a run out west of Salt Lake on Feb 14, and then the annual Moab pre-run on March 11-14...

So anyway, I say if anyone thinks they're ready for some dixie wheelin', post up and get it goin' on and I for one will try my best to make it down there somehow--be it with, or without my Cruiser.

The official members of Wasatch Cruisers are all on an email list and a tentative schedule was announced earlier this year and it included trying to make it to the Glitter Gulch Gambol for October. The GGG is put on by the Southern Nevada Land Cruisers. I just checked their site and it looks like instead of October, they have it scheduled for Nov 12-14 of this year... We'll have to see how that turns out 'cause the WC has an annual event that has been taking place in November...

The renegade run is a good idea for building up the enthusiasm of the rest of the group. When you get home and rave about how much fun we had it might get more attention. We understand that no one knows us and we can't wait to hook up with more cruiser people.
