I read some post about using grease, paper , or bread to put into the pilot hole and force out the pilot bearing. The bread sounded the least messy and the most fun. Well, it worked like a charm. I used my clutch alignment tool to push the bread into the hole until it was full. Then I got a big hammer and pounded away. I had to put a little more bread in the hole as it pushed out the bearing.

That's how I do mine.

I use the same method, first time was odd but once I saw that it actually worked there was no reason to change. It works great.

Yeah, Pumpernickel is over rated for sure. Don't forget to trim the crust :)

I actually have a pilot bearing puller. It's about 50/50 on trashing the bushing on the way out. Bread gets it out cleanly every time.

I prefer pumpernickle myself....it "pumpers the bearing right out"

Used bread as well and worked like a charm.
