USB charging ports... simple question

I just went through this exercise to improve my charging capability in the cockpit of the Cruiser. I had multiple requirements including high power USB-C and some support for magnetic charging.

My radio Android Auto cable was swapped for a @Outsane Solvefunction USB-A jack. This port is low power and considered optional for charging. I previously had a USB cable hanging out of the dash but it was messy. The Solvefunction cable cleans things up nicely and has a secure fit.

I kept the cig lighter plug to make it easier to upgrade USB charging controllers in the future as technology gets better. My phone currently maxes out at 25W charging. My phone maxes out at 20W of charging so this is perfect. The extra USB-A port allows for passenger charging and I have a dozen USB-A cables.

The USB-C port will be used to charge the tablet and the tablet will have magnetic USB-C port connections. The magnetic port allows me to grab the tablet quickly and not worry about damaging the port, cable, or tablet when removing the cable.

I purchased 100W USB-C cables in 6ft, 3ft, and 1ft lengths to use between the tablet and USB-C port as well as with my new Bluetti Elite V2 power station.
I was able to get this for $189 last week. Solar input, 140W and 100W USB-C, low power USB-A, and cig port. The Bluetti is stored in the drawer in the rear.

Previously, my laptop would maintain it's battery capability but even after hours on the charger it wasn't fully charged. After testing I found my original USB charger and cable only provided 8W of power.

this is kind of crazy as I was just looking at these a few weeks ago. Many years ago you could find USB charge ports in round and rectangular. Cheap.

but now with USB-C, I wanted to update my plugs and all I can find are round ones. Not sure why the design has changed but it's a little odd to me.

That socket is more universal, then just lighting your cigarette... ;)

Haven't had anything that plugs into a cigarette socket in a decade besides a usb charger

What do you have that uses a cigarette lighter socket for power?

Usb-C is ubiquitous for so much stuff these days. Anything that needs more power than that probably wants a dedicated circuit anyway, or comes with battery clamps

I have total 5 “cigarette” 12V sockets in my 80, most are 20A Marine grade ones. One in front in stock location, 2 in the back of centre console and 2 in the cargo area.

I use these to charge had-held radios, to power the fridge, etc.

And yeah, I have a separate circuit(s) for these and separate fusebox installed at the rear of the car. So instead of bunch of wires, I ran one 250A+ cable from front to back. From there I power most of the sockets, inverter, diesel heater, etc.

I use the factory cig port for a USB charger however I have one in the rear for charging my Bluetti power station. I much prefer Anderson ports for power distribution though.

Have you used these magnetic connectors?

I tried some and wasn't impressed. Ilike the concept, but the little magnets broke or fell out.

I've had a couple of phones die because the charge port wore out. I tried these before going to wireless charging. Wireless charging isn't efficient though.

I'm on my second set. The first set I used for my tablet, headsets, and several other devices but it was limited to 8 watts. The second set, listed above, allows for 30 watts of charging for my tablet. I even tried a magnetic adapter on each end of the cable and still achieve 30 watts. I was happy with the USB-C adapters installed, magnetic hold, and ease of use but I need more time with the second set.
