1996 Prado.

I don't need a windshield, but it's my daily driver, the odds of needing one at some point are good, and the idea plagues me. Do 4Runner windshields work? Anyone have a good source?

Have you checked with Toyota? I needed one for a 70 series and was surprised to see I could get it from my Toyota dealer.

Not an option. 90-series was never offered in NA let alone US so it does not even show up on their search. And most get confused with the same model year 80/100-series since that’s what shows up on their search.

The windshield is only available from a UAE or Japan source & currently not available from UAE so that leaves you with Japan.

The foam “air dam” that lies beneath the windshield is available since it corresponds to a Lexus part number. The lower valence/trim is available from UAE or Japan & just depends on the current market for import fees & shipping.
There is a rubber channel that goes around the sides & top that does not show up on the parts schematic that must be a Toyota “standard part”

I haven't checked. Thankfully I don't need a windshield, just doing research against the eventuality.

Sounds like Japan is it.

Thank you, appreciate you sharing your research.

I might look into a clear protective film, like a clear bra for paint, but for the windshield. Anyone know of such a thing? I imagine it'd get scratched up by the wipers in short order?

Girlfriend's windshield got broken a few months ago, rock came off a dump truck going the opposite way. Chasing them down was impossible with traffic, we didn't even try. Few hundred bucks and easily sourced for her common vehicle, but the Prado is an entirely different story. This kind of thing happens all the time, especially rock chips after sand/gravel is put down during icy weather.
