hello , what spark plug ? I ran 1985 toyota 4runner sr5 22re-c on search thats what I have , and it gave me NGK bpr5ey-11 for the 22re-c and for the 22re it gave me NGK bpr5ey , does the california emission 22re-c take a diff plug than a 22re .and would you know the spark plug gap. thanks

I think the 22rec , the c is for california

hey did you go to ngk's site and see what the difference between the 2 plugs are?

the difference is the sr5 not the c, also NGK says the sr5 should be gaped at 44 not the 31.

go check there site out.
yeah if you go on ngk website it has 1985 TOYOTA 4RUNNER SR5 2.4 L4 22REC FI , BPR5EY-11 and a 1985 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2.4 L4 22R-EC FI , BPR5EY.. so I have a 85 sr5 4runner , should I get the BPR5EY-11 ? I cant see what the diff a sr5 vs dlx , to justify a diff spark plug so im not going to buy them yet untill I know which one to get

I hope some pros on here know which plug I need , I have the plugs out waiting for some new ones

Do yourself a favor and follow the FSM instructions and install either Denso W16EXR-U or NGK BPR5EY. Set the gap at 0.8mm / 0.031in. I trust Toyota's specs over NGK's site, and it is clear toy4xfun has no idea what he is talking about.

X2 on follow the FSM. Also don't forget to use anti-seize on the plugs when you put them in. It'll make taking them out next time much easier.

i would get the ones for the SR5, and gap them to 44!

i started another thread about this so hopefully some one can answer a few questions.

This is wrong! Buy the NGK BPR5EY and gap them to 0.031.

oh and thanks buy going out there and searching that i learned something!

now i am trying to figure out what i learned, like what makes them have not only different gaps but a different plug.

You did learn something - the NGK website is wrong.

Just for the hell of it I went to the NGK website and chose a 1986 4Runner. It lists 3 choices, 22RE Deluxe, 22RE SR5, and 22RE SR5 Turbo. They all list the same plug with a gap specification of 0.032. They obviously have a mistake in their 1985 gap specification for the 22RE SR5.

This x 3. See my post in the other thread.
