Dang Brock, those look really nice! Are those wheels off an 03+ LX?
Will the Yota caps fit the LX wheels?
IIRC...the unofficial post for cap fitment on 18s.
the center caps on the 18" tundra wheels in this pic will fit 100s only if using spacers.
Hey Oregon, I don't have a link. I bought the spacers off MudThey are 1.5" though, and I like the way they look very much. They push the wheels out so the tread line is right in line with the fender line. I have about 20K miles on them with no issues at all.
PS- I have three more of those Tundy wheels if anyone is looking for some.
your calc is off though it is what everyone thinks....first you got to look at tires available and what is comparable...
I bought Nitto Trail Grapplers in 285x65x18 which are 32.6x11.2x7.3
Comparable Trail Grapplers in 285x70x16 (only ones offered) work out as 31.7x11.2x7.8
So there is in fact only 0.5 inches of difference in sidewall height between the two tires as it would be impacted off road and aired down. Not enough to warrant wanting to sell them and go back to a 16inch wheel setup because of 1/2 inch.
I took sizes from Nitto website and put them in metric tire conversion tool that Discount Tires Direct has.

The 18" steelies like loud has...I have no idea.
The LC or LX 18s can be used with their respective caps regardless of model 100.
Two things: I know this matters little (if at all) to some. If any of this is incorrect, let me know.
Dang, that's not good news. I put my center caps from the 16's on there without issues, except it doesn't give enough clearance to get a socket on the lugs, which means taking off the caps every time I take the wheels off. So I ordered Tundra caps on eBay and now you're saying they won't fit.I should've ordered 18" LC caps.…
all of the 100 alloy wheels are like that, gotta pop the cap off first.![]()
That doesn't make sense. You're comparing 33's vs 32's. Regardless of what tire size is available, that is a very poor comparison, and one that should not be made.
Why not look at 285/65/18 vs 285/75/16, both of which are available for BFG KO's. Same height (32.8") and 1" difference between the sidewalls.
.
you forget... but I did not want BFG...I wanted Trail Grapplers so that was THE CLOSEST two tires offered in size.
My point is there is much more to take into consideration rather than just blanket statements that it is a 1 inch loss no matter what. If someone is set on a brand or style of tire...then they have to compare their options and decide then.
Plus, I am not convinced 99% of the general public on MUD could tell a difference in 1/2 inch or 1 inch of sidewall difference on the trail. If you slam hard enough to crack a wheel with 16 inch wheels then you are likely to do it on the 18inch as well. My solution...I dont air down below 18psi and with stiffer sidewalls I never have an issue.
With some thought and planning you can wheel them both equally as hard with equal the amount of potential damage....for that reason I think it is a moot point really. I heard same thing when I had 17s on my FJC....never had an issue from east coast to west coast wheeling it with pressure only down to 18psi.
I say buy what is available and in the style you want...that fits your wheels. No since buying a tire you dont want just for an additional half inch or even one inch of sidewall.....ridiculous.
I like my 35s on 18s, and the 33s on 16s I had.
My 04 LC came with factory 18's. Personally I prefer the looks of the factory 16's, so I bought a set and equipped them with BFG 33" ATs. Now I kept the 18's and if/when I upgrade to 35's I will more then likely use the 18" wheels.
Something to keep in mind, 16" tires are cheaper then 18" tires in any brand.
Someone mentioned the issue of rocks getting stuck in between the 16" wheels and brake rotor disc. I have had this issue a couple times, not checked whether my powder coat is taking a beating from this. Don't really care seeing how the wheels are taking beating all over anyways.

Same sidewall height IIRC... 35s on 18s do better on wash board then 33s on 16s when aired down equally.
I have a snorkel that would look real nice on your 100 but you need to paint to match like my old 80 snorkel![]()
I know the same sidewall, that's why I like them BOTH. When I was in moab for the week I just aired them down to around 27-29 psi and ran into town and back and wheeled on that pressure till I left.
