new member to mud. I am reading everything I can find to get the best ideas and parts. I have owned this 84 Fj60 since 1985. It has been in a barn for 13 or so years. All stock. This is a good time to make changes. Carburetor, distributor, DeSmog, Cat, winch Bumper, wheels/Tires, seat upholstery and radio. Have been checking vendors. Have seen the phrase " JimC" . Is he a vender? Website?
Thank you all in advance of your input and ideas with your experiences on any aspect/contribution to my many updates.

Jim rebuilds carbs and dizzy's.
Awesome that you have had this truck since '85. I will say that if your handy and able to follow directions well and pick up on details easily... rebuild the carb yourself. Cruiser Outfitters sells the kit (EK11-0383A). Be sure to get the secondary diaphragm (21669-61100) and a new accelerator plunger from Toyota (21353-61020) as the material is made of leather and slides better than the rubber one in the Keyster kit. The rebuild kit is significantly cheaper than sending it out but many don't have the time nor the comfort level to rebuild. Jim I hear is very busy at times. Patience is key to getting in touch with him. Other than that.... lets see the truck! Inquiring eyes are dying to see.

Here are some pictures. Yes I have the ability to rebuild the carburator, but I am interested in checking out other carbs since I will be dropping Smog pump and CAT. Have any of you had luck with the Weber 38? My interest is to improve efficiency.

I run the Weber 38 - much, much better than factory. And I would buy it again. It does need to be tuned fairly precise, mine has a tendency to "diesel" right now and needs to be adjusted further.

This the first time I've heard someone say the weber was better then stock. To each his own I guess, I've got a non-us aisin and it works great. But rebuilding the stock one is pretty easy/cheaper.
Thanks Silverstar. I am going to use this as a driver and think that with the miles I plan on driving the added cost for a more efficient carb should overcome the cost. Also, do you use regular gas or a higher octane?
