I got the chinese brass gears. One of the ends were 0.2m too large, so it stuck at that side, so the gear got a little damaged.
I got that end ground down, so it now fits, and I added a pin to hold in the little white cap. It's noisy, but it works.

Then I wanted to work on the other seat, and found the white cap missing. Darn. Too close to vacation to get another cap, but I'll try to mcgyver something from a plastic rod.

Hahahaha totally. Do it!

Never mind the reasons why Toyota engineering decided to use a soft material to act as a sort of “fuse” in the system. It’ll be good to learn what gets destroyed next in the system. We can all learn from it.
The seat just has to move up and back . The only reason it doesn't is the soft gear and the end cap . There is no need for a fuse to make the seat to move up and back . The only reason I have heard of that they use the plastic gears in other cars is so that if you are in a accident the fire department can use a pry bar and strip the gear so that the sat will slide back , but in this truck the gear once stripped doesn't allow it to move freely once stripped because of the threaded rods on both sides and a socket ranch has to turn both sides . If you screw a screw through the plug so it can't work its way out there is no need for a plastic fuse. The metal piece will just keep the seat moving up and back for the life of the truck .
