Hi guys, does anyone know anything about this brand of winches, I found this used 24V that I would like to pick up for my BJ42... not sure what pulling power itis?

Asking price 350,- euros.

Should I go with steel or synthetic rope? It says 8mm/30m...

Do I need anything else to install it, electrycwise? Aftermarket remote? Contactors? Relays?

Thank you.

Well, it's off some Swedish military truck....that's all I got.

They are suppose to be very good and very expensive, used on G wagon, Pinz etc.

I notice a couple of things about it:
1. It pulls a maximum of about 5,500 pounds (25 kiloNewtons). This is about half of what you would want for a BJ42. This is consistent with the 8mm diameter rope recommended.

2. It has only two wires, suggesting that the motor is permanent magnet type and not series wound. This is consistent with the lower power rating. You would probably need an external contactor to reverse the polarity of the two wires to reverse the rotation of the winch.

Thank you guys for your input. I contacted the seller again, he said there are two spots to cnect cables, one with the plus/minus and the other with tree contacts possibly contacto.

He is asking 350 euros, that sounds acceptable as I was looking for the all famous Warn 8274 and rhe cheapest i could find it used is 820 euros, this one shown in the photos... new ones are way out of my budget.

Even at twice the price the 8274 is a much smarter choice. The extra 100 feet of cable alone could make or break you some day.

BTW the unit above appears to have 1) a plug to hook up power and ground 2) a plug for a controller. It is possible that it reverses internally.

Thx guys, I was thinking of waiting and just getting the warn 8274 when an opertunity comes up as I just realized that all of these that I found are 12V... would it be a problem for the charge if I hooked up the 12V unit to one battery directly rather than the two batteries 24V...

You would need to purchase a 24 volt motor for the 8274 if you want use it on your 42 . Buying a 12v converter big enough to power a winch wouldn't be that cost effective . They really pull hard and fast though in 24v mode . I have 24 volt motor for an 8274 in my shop . I could get you the part number off it if you like .

Hi, thank you. What is the price of this motor? I wonder if this is worth it?

Yes it's worth it having a proven winch with readily available parts
Over a under capacity winch that might be next to impossible to buy parts for
And looks like it's off a jib crane or something by the mounting pattern and lack of a fair lead
Ok I missed the bolts on the front of it for a fair lead
And a 8274 just looks right on a cruiser

Thank you, I am negotiating with the guy, if he lets it go a bit cheaper I would take it... how much would if cost for a synthetic rope that fits well on the 8274?

Cna I run it on one battery for a while untill i get the 24v motor? Would that ruin the one out of two batteries on my bj42?

Thank you.
