Hey all, first post!

Have been working through a 1973 FJ40 and ran into these hubs. They were inside a tight fitting chrome cover that required lots of work just to get to the bolts. There were some odd washers as well. I have no idea how they even installed this chrome sleeve but nonetheless here’s what was underneath. Can anyone help me identify the model and what it might be from? Searching so far has not turned up anything stock on a 40. These are red because the PO painted everything red. The only thing I know is they are Warn and seem atypical.

Back off the set screws then loosen and remove the round nut. A spanner wrench would be helpful. If you dont have one, use a punch and use the holes that don't have a set screw in it. Below the round nut is a washer with a bunch of holes in it, then another nut.

They came right off. In fact the nut and all of it was very loose and easy to remove by hand. The reason I was even in there was investigating the loose hubs on both sides. The PO replaced the bearings and either didn’t torque to spec or things wore in over time. You can imagine how loose the steering is. The proper socket should arrive tomorrow but even hand tightening in the meantime tightened things right up.

After searching some more I came across a comment that the hub sticker is red for these instead of black. Of course! I have that red sticker and sure enough there was the info. When everything is red it’s easy to ignore it.
