The NB300 Mount in particular will fit any 2.5" extinguisher. So far it fits all 22 extinguishers I have except for one. But there are other mounts that the FEM-1 will accommodate, the NB300 is just the one I like the best.

Which "good" extinguisher to buy?

The Halotron one I linked from H3R is the "good" one. There are true Halon ones available, but I don't know if they're compatible with the H3R bracket, and Halon is more expensive. Halotron is a clean agent like Halon, but it isn't as effective (it reportedly takes more Halotron to extinguish a fire than it would Halon...)

I didn't want to "cheap out", but couldn't afford to go "all in" with the Halon, and I think the Halotron was a decent compromise.

Good, but not the best available (extinguisher is not Halon, but a Halon substitute) but much better than the dry chemical type. The H3R bracket however is VERY nice and stout.

But can I get it in black? And will the black of the fire extinguisher match the black powder coat of Joey's bracket?

Seriously though, thanks. I appreciate it. Now I just need to find a job so I can buy one...

Its available in black from H3R and others. H3R is a shiny black where I went with a more satin/matte textured finish for my powder coat. In actuality I tried using what SafeCraft uses but after two phone calls to SafeCraft they wouldn't give up what they are using stating it was their own formula. Eh, ok so I got close. @azcrackshot get detail how close it is or isn't or whether it bugs him or not.

I have just shipped out FEM-1s to those that ordered the FEM-2 units. These can be place holders or these can fill/complete the order. Its your choice and I will work with you on this until you are satisfied. I will know in a few days, once I get the quotes, whether or not I produce the actual FEM-2 or not. Sorry, just can't have you guys who trusted in me to deliver to sit and wait for me to make a decision. I don't want to hold up your order/money any longer than I need to. I've passed that point I think.

Joey,

I have been to several shops in Arizona that are expedition and off road oriented retailers. I have been showing off your products. The feedback I am getting is very positive. They all agree that the locking lid is would be the icing on the cake.

II was also thinking that on the inside knock out towards the center of the vehicles transmission hump you could sell a switch that would disable the electronic seat forward and back movement. Basically one would move the seat up and over the lock box and then reach down and around to the disable switch and in essence cut power going to the factory forward and back switch on the side of the seat. This would prevent any would be thieves from even knowing or seeing a lock box because it would be tucked under the front of the seat and they won't be able to move the seat unless they read this post of have time to find the hidden switch. Just a thought.

I will look at this tomorrow but it's a pretty damn good match from what I remember.

Thanks for that and I sure hope the lid seals the deal for most if not all. I'm already committed to doing it.

Yup, not hard to do at all. Just need to source really inexpensive hazard switches. :hhmm:

Am I understanding it right that the lid and storage is only accessible if you have the extended seat mod?

* @landtank seat mod- fully accessible to the canvas bin and locking lid
* manual seats- fully accessible to the canvas bin and likely the locking lid, @bryson was going to verify *cough*
* electric seats with no mods- limited access to canvas bin and locking lid is not accessible

UPDATE
I just got a text saying he made me six of the canvas pouches. This is great news because it means I can start my planning on branding them and also because he won't be able to get me much else for two weeks. I am considering just silk screening the same logo found on the console liners on the inside of the pouch facing the seat. That way it's there if you are looking for it but not totally in your face every time you open the lid. Cool?

I did not realize that the locking lid would only be accessible if one has the seat extension. I highly recommend the seat extension for anyone that feels cramped and wants a locking lid. The best mod I did for comfort for sure.

Both

Built in the USA with CAD (cardboard aided design) equipment. Complete with aviation-grade (luggage) locking mechanism!

Lid open with seat lever in resting/locked position with seat in rearmost position. Note I'm still missing the plastic end cap on lever. Access for most items in box should be adequate.

Lever pulled up and lid opened as far as it will go. PLENTY of access!

Don't worry, no wits' end stickers were wasted in the making of this product.

How strong is that? Will you run a destructive test on it?
