I was about to say the same thing, but you beat me to it.
I need a discount now for the pain and suffering sustained while watching those pictures.

Yeah, I'm almost sorry I asked...

Those pics are helpful though, and are a step closer to convincing me it wouldn't be in the way. Maybe more pics with female models could seal the deal?

Well I need more feedback, hopefully quickly...

I am at a cross roads with this particular product. The DS (FEM-1) is done and PLEEEEEENTY on my shelf. In fact too many. I obviously way over estimated the needs of those looking for a ready to go solution for a fire extinguisher. It seems I can nearly accurately estimate the demand of something that requires 100 components and thousands of production units. But I can't seem to figure out if 50 is enough or too many for a simple Fire Extinguisher Mount. :meh:

Anyway, only ten (20%) of the mounts have sold which is interesting. Didn't bother me at first glance but now I think I am focusing on it too much. Because I have the PS mount ready to be made but I find myself holding back. But why hold back if its ready to go? Because I don't want to sit on 50 of the PS units. Hell I cant be sitting on 25 of them :flipoff2:

Unfortunately for me only two of the PS have pre-sold (and I have yet to ship those two) which makes me pause of course. Now I'm also sitting here recalling why I didn't do an ambidextrous design. The trans hump was the biggest issue but the center console/trans hump isn't dead center. Its offset maybe an inch. Little less maybe. So this means although you could use the FEM designed for the DS and put it on the PS, you can't do the reverse. So it meant redesigning it slightly. Also the holes spacings for the mounts would need to be changed in order to keep the extinguisher nozzles in a certain direction when particular mounts were being used. It also meant the extinguishers were pushed more into the hump instead of to the door so there there was clearance.

So can you mount the FEM-1 (DS) mount onto the PS? Yes. Totally. And here are the pics to show. But it also puts the switch knock-outs at opposite sides and it means no room for brand identification. This all kinda sucked. That being said it could easily be a mount still for an extinguisher or a large flashlight or tools or really anything.

My question is: should I make the PS? Or can the DS used in the PS good enough? If its a coin flip for you folks then its time and money I'd rather spend on other projects. Refund the two sales of the PS units or send the DS units with an apology :(

That sucks man. I hate that, it's a fantastic product that is top notch. I personally like the water proof switch on the outside with the branding as you made it. However I also don't want you to take a dive on this. If the driver side fits fine with the nb300 mount I will take that over not having one. I would prefer the passenger side mount as you designed it but I would rather you not take a dive on this product. The ideal option is we just round up enough people to take all them off your hands.

It seems like you should hold off on the PS to me, especially since the DS does work there. It may be possible to find a waterproof switch for the Toyota sized knock-out to alleviate that issue, but really is it necessary? The seat switches aren't waterproof and they are hanging right out there too.

From the pictures is looks like you could easily add one of your small stickers to the passenger side to make sure that your logo is visible*. It seems like moving the plate over would be a no-go since you would end up needing to drill new holes and thus damage the powder coat, but the stickers would serve much of the same purpose and would make it easy on you - just send out the product you already have and not need to worry about customizing it.

Maybe if there is demand down the road (when you get a lid or some accessory that becomes the "must have" widget) it might make sense but it doesn't sound like now is the time.

*BTW, I had originally intended to use the blank side up for the liners but decided I like the touch of bright color your logo brings. Really like it now.

I don't need to have them all gone. And I don't mind doing other runs. But I do need to have movement so that I do need things to start paying for themselves. Or or or at least feel like I didn't way over estimate the need for safety. Its crazy. But its not suspension. It doesn't make the truck look cool. Its not a supercharger or an overheating issue. So its not sexy :flipoff2:

Yeah it doesn't need to be waterproof but since it was the low point for water crossings I didn't want to take the chance.

The branding isn't THAT big of a deal because it doesn't aid in useability nor safety.

Well I already have the prototype for the inner bag/pouch and the lid is close enough that I can make a proto here at my house and start testing. I think those two are going to happen and true, it may drive more of these out the door. We'll see.

I think the guys like me that have these installed need to help you promote and sell more of them. Once someone sees them in person they sell themselves. I have had several people that I show my truck to make positive comments on the mount. I think the locking top feature will bring some more interest in them. The build quality, design, functionality, and customer service you provide will make you and your products a long term success.

Some of you who made the purchase and like the product might consider writing a review and post lots of pictures (but please no hairy legs!!!!).

Thanks for that Todd. For this particular product it has always been about the safety aspect. When I moved to California at 12 years old my relatives took me to Zuma beach. On the way back there was a car fully engulfed in flames right in front of us. As we drive by I remembered seeing people inside burning to death. It really fxxxed me up for a long time. Its what motivated this particular product. Since then I keep any number of them in the truck but they have always just been hanging around. I never want to see that same image re-burned into my mind.

That never hurts too.

Positive views are great but seriously I prefer honest reviews. If there is an issue I NEED to know. I WANT people to know. This is a safety product. It needs to be 100%

Ok so here's a review of this product. I have so far had the opportunity to use a drivers side fire extinguisher mount. I had my H3R extinguisher sitting on the passenger floor board for about a yr trying to think of how to mount it without drilling through the floor and to get it in an ideal location. Prior to this mount my fire extinguisher was rolling around in the floor board and occasionally would fly off the seat with hard braking if put in the seat. I had been contemplating where to put the extinguisher for ease of access and could not devise a location that I could get to easily and quickly in case of a fire. I have a dual swing-out and therefore rear access is slow. I had contemplated a sliding window hatch but then I would have to leave unlocked for easy access plus by the hatch kit. I could use rear seats but daughter may knock the extinguisher. Therefore the best location is the front on the floor boards. Thankfully during my procrastination period on figuring this out Joey came up with this awesome execution.

So on to the review...

Here's my stats:
1996 FZJ80
NA factory electric seats
H3R 2.5lb fire extinguisher
NB-300 mount

I have been very pleased. I originally planned to just put a mount on the PS of the vehicle so that it would not interfere with my foot being able to move rearward, however after talking with Joey it seemed the drivers side mount did not interfere with foot space so I pulled the trigger on a dual DS and PS mount. I have the standard NA electric seats. I have noticed that there is a slight decrease in foot room due to the mount. However it is not as much as i anticipated. There is actually just enough room to the door side of the extinguisher to get my foot back all the way to the seat. I usually sit with the seat in full rearward position and at low height. I will occasionally put my feet all the way back on long drives with cruise control on and this is limited some by the mount. However you can put your feet on the mount, and the left foot fits off to the side. I have noticed absolutely no hindrance in getting in/out of vehicle and have in no way come close to contacting the extinguisher on getting in or out of the vehicle. I have contemplated using the PS mount for the extinguisher then using the DS mount for a gun or similar in a holster if the foot room ever drove me nuts. But for now it really is not much of an issue. I also like having the option for 3 more switches to use if needed.

Pros: fantastic workmanship, excellent quality, perfect fit. Best possible mounting location for fire extinguisher with ease of access (i can get extinguisher out in only a couple of seconds). Perfect setup for H3R extinguisher and NB300 mount (my setup). Fairly out of the way and very solid - will not move and very secure. Awesome mounting location even if you did not have an extinguisher; could use for gun, flashlight, knife, etc.

Cons: Slight reduction in movement of foot towards seat. This is mainly an issue if you put your feet all the way rearward near the seat. The left foot is less hindered than the right due to an available space near door side of extinguisher. Slight reduction in forward movement of the seat. No other cons noted. I think the price is very reasonable for the quality of this product. The expense really comes with the extinguisher and mount. H3R 2.5lb Extinguisher is roughly $120 and NB-300 mount is roughtly $75. Now you could use a cheaper mount and extinguisher.

Summary: I would highly recommend this product. I feel it is an exceptionally well made product. I have spent way more on CR#P that did not even come close to matching the attention to detail this product has. Plus it is made by one of our very own MUD members which means a lot to me. I have learned extensively from this community and when someone spends their time and money to help us and create something that I agree with him is a really important product I will invest my money in that product. Joey's attention to detail is amazing. BTW, I am a physician and by reading his posts over 2 yrs I would probably diagnose him with ADHD and OCD, haha.

I'm working on the pics...

Wife who is 5'2". She notes she would like the seat further forward but it's totally doable. I'm 5'9" with seat all the way down and back. Last is door closed and the space for foot between extinguisher and door.

Ya, Ya, next payday I will ordering at least one (FEM mount)
