Any way you can get a pic with someone in the seat to show the room, and maybe with the seat moved to full forward. I want the DS but my wife is short and need the seat forward to drive the LC. If not PS it is!

Ditto on this. Even if not a person in the photo I would like to see one with the seat all the way forward. My wife is a mere 5' tall.

I'll do that and maybe post a video. You will NOT have full range of movement to move the seat all the way forward as I mention a bunch earlier in the thread BUT I did modify from my original design so that the "vertically challenged" could get some relief :P

Ok quick update on @azcrackshot install. We had a discussion over the phone earlier and he noticed so much more room vs mine and questioned why I had to remove the top plate like I was originally planning. Well it turns out its because he has the @landtank seat mod so it not only places the seat something like 2" further back but it also raises the seat something like .75"

This mod gives you a TON more room as you will be able to see in the pics. I have this mod sitting in my project box along with all of the other seat mods I have yet to do so I have NOT installed this yet. If you do NOT have the LANDTANK seat mod then these pics are NOT applicable. But it does show you what kind of space you will have.

Here are the pics with the seat all the way forward. You can see how it easily clears the top of the Fire Extinguisher Mount.

Here you can see what the LANDTANK seat mod does for clearance behind the Fire Extinguisher Mount. As you can see, pleeeeenty of space.

So much space that during our discussion we brainstormed on how best to utilize this space. He sent me these pics so that he could explain exactly what he is trying to accomplish. I think I have a way to take care of his needs and the needs of others who are thinking along the same lines. Now remember, this is WITH the LANDTANK seat mod. If you do NOT have the mod then the discussion is moot because you will not have this kind of access before the Fire Extinguisher Mount.

Ok, maybe not so much :flipoff2:

I'm glad the seat extention mod came up as I just installed my extinguisher bracket and noticed all of the room. I was thinking about a top plate. Please keep us seat bracket folks posted. Great product!

There are two things I am considering:

1: Hinged/locked top plate that bolts into the same seat bolts.
Issue: this creates a mechanical stacked height that further pulls the front seat bolt out from the welded nut that keeps you all from dying when the seat comes loose. There MUST be a certain number of threads that are exposed on the other side of that nut or else its overall strength is diminished exponentially.
- The lock itself would look and operate like the lock being used for the LockBox that I am working on.
- The hinge would operate and be spot welded the same as the LockBox design (consistency in design is a good thing)
- The lock itself would engage under the rolled lip of the top of the Fire Extinguisher Mount.

2: Tray our pouch could be added to that spot either in conjunction with lid or instead of lid.
- Option1: Canvas pouch that would clip into place
- Would be made from the same material as the APUs
- Option2: Vacuum form ABS
- Would be mechanically attached to the sides of the FEM

For those that actually have @landtank seat brackets AND who either have the FEM-1 or are considering it, what are your thoughts?

I like watching porn.

What about simply supplying longer bolts for the seat mount if you go with the bolt-on style hinged lid? I imagine one could find suitably-graded bolts with captured washers like the stockers that are 10mm or so longer?

Could you make a Kydex or similar holster that clips over the top of your bracket and allows a small(ish) pistol to reside in the space? Downside there is you would have to get gun model specific with the holsters...

Yes and I am already down that path. It may be a requirement if I DO actually make a lid. Ugh, I'm going to have to fire up my attorney again to go through this. Argh $$$$$$

Simple answer is no, not going to do Kydex anything because its not in my wheelhouse. Plus everyone has something different and its impossible to plan for all of the options. I still maintain there should be some type of standard of mounting holsters. Whatever THAT is then I could incorporate it. Until then...booo

I have the Landtank seat extension, and like the idea of some kind of storage bin with a lid. Because of my long legs, I don't think I could mount a fire extinguisher though as I like to rest my feet sometimes close to the seat base on long drives with the cruise on.

What about an option for the original top plate that you had envisioned? A couple of predrilled holes would offer lots of mounting options.

I like this idea as well. The only drawback is that if you were to mount anything taller then 1/2" to the top plate you would not be able to move the seat forward for other vertically challenged family members to drive. Also the locking lid would allow you to place things into the cavity that are semi secured and you can run the seat forward and up over the top of it so no one can even see that there is a door or pocket there.

Everything is being considered. As for the mount being too close to your feet, well I've had one form or another of the mount and extinguisher for nearly a month now installed. I now use the mount/F.E. as a place to put my feet. I just treat it as a step now. I'm kinda liking it. Originally I would force myself to not step on it because I was worried about breaking something. Well I'm not breaking anything. I can't hurt the mount, I can't damage the NB300 bracket, no way I can break the bolts and the FE itself just laughs. So now I use it as a step to rest my feet on.

That would mean doing another run of these. I would have to at least come close to cover costs on this one before I do another run. I'm not even close yet :(

Even though that was my original intention, I think a pouch/tray/lid mix/combo gives better utilization over just the top plate...if you have LT's extensions.
