Looking good, Matt

Thanks.

Leak is still not sorted between work, family, and church I've been busy throw in weather and I haven't messed with much.

I was able to run to LKQ today as I needed a part to finish the trans swap in the Sport Trac. It was also 1/2 price weekend. Wish I had more time as usual but I was still able to get a console for the doghouse out of the conversion van Marshall posted up the other week. It was made out of fiberglass and wood. It needs a little work but it will be a large improvement over 1 cup holder. Also pulled the wood dash off of the same van as well as a few more wood trim items. I think I'm going to get some black wood stain and redo the finish should turn out unique.
got the top wood trim and the piece around the door latch.

Test fit:

Finally got a Tahoe mirror with compass and temp as well as the sensor and part of the harness. Been looking for one of these for awhile. Simple wiring and a neat feature, especially for $10.

There is a green e250 that I wished I had time to get the rear airbag kit off of the rear axle as well as the front seats. Oh well it wasn't something I had to have and Lori needed the 4runner.

Fancy fancy Matt, my uncle used to have conversion vans and that center console is very similar to one that he used to have....I believe that bottom section was a cooler on his.

Narrowed down where the leak is coming from...just in front of the fuel bowl, really tough to see down in the area on a van. After I get that sorted I hope I can start driving it more and work on some cosmetics, interior build, etc.
I got our Sport Trac back last week, shifting is hard especially downshift to 2nd. Upon research there are several transmissions used for '01. Somehow I got the wrong one, having to pull it back out and take it as well as the original to the JY so they can match up one they have. I'm glad they are making it right, disappointed its taking this much to get it going correctly again. Especially since I need it to be fixed so I can put it up for sale. If you know anyone interested let me know. I am going to wait for it to be fixed right before posting it publicly. Probably $3500 range. Essentially one owner., parents bought it with <2K miles in 2001.
The push for wanting to get it sold are a couple different reasons, the main one is that I have been looking for a DD to replace it that will get good MPG so we can hopefully save a little on fuel each month. I'm headed up near Charlottesville, VA in the next week to pick up a new DD. Excited about it, needs a little work, but has a stack of receipts since new and its a one owner car.
I'll start a thread eventually on it.

Money shot:

It's been since ~'99 or so since I've flown, looking like thats my best option price wise. If I can coordinate flying out of Charlotte I can get to Charlottesville for ~$100 one way. It was going to be ~ $200 in gas round trip in the 4runner. So hopefully the adventure will be a good one. Its about the story most of the time anyway, right?

I made it home on Tuesday early AM (1:30) after getting to GSP Airport at 8 am on Monday. Rerouted fight through Philly, delay, and a prop plane over to Charlottesville. I made it and drove straight home after toping the tank off, 425 miles home on a little over 1/2 a tank. Filled it back up today with 1/4 tank left ~ 600 miles, 45mpg! Now to get the Sport Trac wrapped up and sold and the van rolling. Lori has mandated no $ on the Jetta until those things happen. She knows me too well. :)

That is a nice TDI. We love ours. 96.5 jetta, average 46-48, have been in the low 50's on long road trips. Long live the VW.

My jetta is not a tdi but still gets in the mid to high 20's. Good cars...

Dang this thread is making me jealous........

We just picked up a tdi for andrea at the begining of the year

Thanks guys, I've been busy with other stuff. Van still isn't running I really need to locate that fuel leak, but I have been enjoying the TDI. Averaging 43 mpg in my daily driving. Bought a few items for it since they were a good deal. ;) Koni FSD Shocks and H&R sport springs brand new and also a set of 18" BBS FC OEM VW rims. Need two more 225/40/18 tires if anyone sees a pair for under $100. Also having some weak braking at times, I think it might be a vacuum hose that comes off the booster. Hoping to get it diagnosed soon.

I have to do my 1st brake job soon on mine.

I have to do my 1st brake job soon on mine.

I gotta do brakes on Erin's soon too. Got a rear caliper sticking that has to be replaced as well. Rear rotors are a serious PITA from what I read because the rear caliper bracket has to come off.

Sold a door off the parts van tonight had a guy buy the engine a month back.
Been busy and too hot to mess with anything when I got the urge. After I get the Sport Trac sold hopefully I'll have a little $ to get some projects done. The little I've had lately has gone to the tdi. Still slack about a build thread for it.

Mechanic friend from church picked the van up yesterday. Hoping to get a few things done. Mainly the fuel leak, exhaust installed and doors aligned. Have a few more items on the wish list but will have to see how it goes.

I cleaned it out Tuesday afternoon and bolted the pass seat back together and into the van. I had pulled it trying to figure a way to put it on a swivel base. I think I have an idea of how I'm going to do that now.

I wish it's been at my buddy's house since I posted up. Been sick and had other projects ahead of me. Debated selling it and buying a 5.4 with lower miles that's drivable. Might have a few changes in our family over the next year or two so that could determine where it goes. I really haven't been on mud much since Nov.

I'll give you a good deal on a 91 chev conversion van...5.7,4l60e
about 150,000on van
75000 on crate motor
7500 on trans
$2000.00

Changes in the family! Boy or Girl???

Lol I'm not a big fan of the chevy vans. No more kids yet. Still debating adoption. I'll post up more when/if anything happens.

My wife and I are going through the adoption process. We just did our home study and we are just waiting now.

Are you planning on doing a private adoption or going through DSS?

We were doing international ~10 months ago but the little boy we were going to adopt was adopted by another family. We have been back and forth on trying to decide what to do. Are you guys trying to adopt and older child?
