Radiant barrier for the roof of the garage is going to be a big chunk of $ to try. Whatchall think about adding a vent or two to the roof to let that hot air escape?

Yeah that will definately help, since you have attic trusses(trusses that give you the room up above the garage) and the insulation is against the roof deck your best option is a ridge vent. Now this will require you to remove the ridge cap shingles, cut away the wood deck, about 3" on each side of the peak, nail down the ridge vent(available at lowes, home depot, builders first source, etc) and then nail down new ridge cap shingles.

You should first source out who carries your color shingle, from the pics I think it is a reddish color. Now they aren't going to match just purely due to the age of your roof and natural fadding, but with it being the ridge you can get away with it a lot easier than if you were patching a hole on one of the sides. Get something that is close and go with it. You can cut ridge cap shingles out of regular 3-tab shingles, it's a lot cheaper option than buying the actual "ridge cap" shingles. And this is how it was always done before they came out with architectual shingles so you aren't cutting any corners, just saving money. I can show you how to make them. Hope this helps, if you need anything else let me know. I'm actually gonna be at the seneca lowes working tomorrow if you have time to swing by and I can show you some options.

chirp chirp, chirp chirp......I hear crickets!!

Actually it might make it easier, you can go up and take the ridge cap off and cut the roof and then put the cap back on. Only thing is you will want to get one size larger in diameter screw so it will bite back into the metal. You may want to get a roofer to do it, I have a metal roof and fortunately it's a low slope but I hate having to get up there, it can be a lil slippery.

Not to worry...JP has your fix :flipoff2:

Call anderson steel and see who they know...now they won't recommend anybody but they should give u names of roofers that install metal

Found out today i am more than likely going to lose my teamleader job today. I love working for Magna but some of the things we do simply puzzle me. I will still have a job more than likely on the shipping dock on the same shift but i will no longer run it.

Sorry to hear Gimp. I have a beer for ya if you are over Seneca way.

meh, not that worried about it. May lose a little $ an hr. but with 4 kids the tax man hates me anyway. Going to be interesting working with my fellow workers and taking orders from someone else though.

This is the second time in four years they have done this to me. I am going to try to go 2 first shift and be done with it.

At least they haven't kicked you to the curb. Thankful for that.

On the lighter side...

We passed Marty McFly...
