Had a great time today. Good seeing everyone. Thanks John, Gabe, and Josh for coming out.

I'll let Josh tell what he found. I found a skateboard.

We also have a new sign.

Hey Josh was thinking the other night. That chrome claw bar you found. I was trying to figure out where I'd seen one before. Now I figured it out. It's what firemen use to open doors and tear open things. It's called a Halligan Bar. There is a fire station on that road about a mile down. I wonder if they lost it somehow?

I have it at the house. I will tell you one thing, this bastard halligan bar poked a hole in a 25lbs bag of lyme and dumped it everywhere in the garage.

lol u should keep the bar and ask them about the dvd!!

There really isnt much those things cant do. I'm on the Fire Brigade at the plant where I work and a Halligan is very useful! Im sure they chocked it up as a loss, so if you want to sell it hehe :grinpimp:

We are going to start doing this regularly again. We need to give back to the community. If you can think of other vents like this please let me know.

Coordinate with local hospitals to take key staff in during snow storms

I've looked into the hospital thing before to run it through Southeast Overland Adventures - but from what I could see online there was a good bit of an application process. I was looking more for "hey, here is my number, have your medical staff call when the roads are shut down due to snow."

Yeah, the hospitals are worried about liability issues. They used the GA Bounty Runners a few years ago, but when some GA folks proactively volunteered to help the following year, they got more resistance than expected.

I've got a contact at an upstate hospital. I'll see what the scoop is. Last time I tried a big issue was training for interaction with patients. I don't plan to interact with patients any.

I think the GBR only did non-patient transport. Carrying hospital staff or lab work back and forth. Seems like the hospitals got caught off guard when we had the big ice storm. They were in reaction mode back then and googled 4wd clubs and GBR came up. Now, I bet they all have contingency plans - so making good samaritan efforts is harder.

It's bad when you have resistance trying to volunteer
