Mine is a 1990 LJ78 EXT, brought down from Revelstoke BC. 2BG60125X80007973. About 185KM. About the only upgrades are manual hubs. Supposedly has a 3.0 head, but I don't know that for sure. Hopefully the timing belt was replaced at the same time as the head, but the previous owners did not write the date or mileage on the engine service card. A Carfax search revealed it was imported to Canada in 2007. But not much more than that.

Already dirty on the first day.

I found this lc 7 years ago, lake cjamplain, Vt. Drove back to Nc. Without stopping, except almost ditching the truck into a minivan on a frosty pass in the green mtns. It was early January and I had to get ahead of the storm.

I'm seriously considering selling my near-perfect '08 Tacoma (very high resale) for enough cash to pick up a 79 series out of Dubai . What I have to figure out is how the heck to register it in the US (Illinois) and how it can be legally insured . I've been watching this thread to see if one shows up in the US - nothing yet but I'd almost bet someone has done it . Just need some pointers about how to start ....
Is it really that hard to source wear item parts ?

Buy 6, crash 5, do all necessary adjustments to the one and you are good to go.

Or, pay someone to take apart one in Dubai, containerize it as parts, then get your self a 80 series rolling chassis and reassemble body on top. Register as an 80 series.

All wear components are readily available.
