Horn stopped working, so I took it apart today. Found that the contact had worn out after only a couple of years since I replaced it last. 22lr casing FTW:

So, fellers, I have to do the valve cover gasket. Looks like I can tackle it from posts I have seen. How much time should it take?

Couple hours max. Do the sparkplug gaskets and the PCV gasket at the same time.

Who's Max? :)

This is Max and he says he can do it in 3.25 hours. After all he slept in the shop all day today

Would any of you Charlotte guys be willing to help with an ome 2.5 install? A case of whatever your poison is if you are.

This was the first repair I did when I got my cruiser a few months ago. I'm mechanically inclined but not real comfortable on vehicles quite yet. For me it took about 1.5 to disassemble and remove the old spark plug seals, then I spent the next day or so trying to clean as much oil and grease as I could from the cover and around the engine, and then it took about another 1.5 to put it all back together

Something is missing from that truck Stan, can't quite put my finger on it........ Got it, left engine mount is missing the stud!

And the isolator ... Gonna rattle teeth when it runs

Look a bit harder, lots more wrong than a missing motor mount..............

I will clean before taking it a part. It should take 3hrs i think

Another bump for TWT.

My sister said she wanted something other than "Stuff" this year for Christmas. A new clutch/PP for her 98 4Runner is what she got. Per usual a huge shout of thanks to @jfz80 for coming over to lend a hand and help with the beer. Thanks also to @beno .... perfect parts fit. (I do wish the clutch came with an alignment tool so I didn't have to make one though).

Eased back the wrenching dial today and went for a light sandblast and paint for a new wheel look in the new year. Flat black stock alloys.

The PO preferred bondo over metal

The steel on this beast is pretty thick

Ok guys, this ain't pretty but hopefully it will be functional once all ground down...

Pls remember today marks many first-time milestones...
- 1st time using a cutoff wheel
- 1st time slicing into a vehicle
- 1st time welding... Finally tried out my HF flux core welder( bought it 2.5 yrs ago but too chicken, and copper spoon, magnets etc
- 1st time burning through sheet metal and attempting fill in the hole with bead

Unfortunately I couldn't find any Lincoln flux core wire at Home Depot, so I did this hack job using all HF products. Hopefully this will turn out half-way decent tomorrow after using my grinder for the first time!

I was frightened out of my mind the first time I pulled the trigger. Was pretty nervous the auto dimming helmet from HF would not be reliable... Also the only welding I've ever seen is on YouTube.

Man I'm so pumped and optimistic now, hopefully this will turn out okay. Hopefully more to come in the near future!
